Definitions
- the invention refers to a portable laser hair removal device for multipurpose use, contributing to the function to which several advantages and novelty features are intended, which will be described in detail below, which they represent an improvement over other systems currently known in the state of the art for the same purpose.
- the object of the invention is focused on an apparatus intended for laser hair removal, which is eminently domestic in nature thanks to its simplicity of use and which, in addition to being portable, since it is configured as an instrument Of small dimensions, without losing effectiveness in operation, and having a low economic cost given its structural simplicity that allows its production in series, it has the particularity of having one, two or three different types of laser light illumination incorporated simultaneously in the same or independently, which can be: one more suitable for light skin and light hair, another for olive skin and dark hair and another for black skin and dark hair, which, very simply, are alternately selected by part of the user according to their type of hair, thus giving it a versatile character that, advantageously, allows to cover any sector of p ⁇ blico and also allow sharing between users with different types of hair and skin.
- the scientific basis of laser hair removal is the principle of selective phototermolysis, which predicts that a selective thermal lesion of a pigmented structure will occur when a sufficient luminous flux is deposited at a certain wavelength (absorbed by the target) for a period of time. less than or equal to the thermal relaxation time of the target.
- the basic principles of laser hair removal are that the light incident on a tissue can be transmitted, reflected, absorbed or dispersed, depending on the composition of the tissue and the wavelength (color) of the light.
- Each type of tissue in the human body has an absorption coefficient that depends on its specific absorbent components, also called chromophores.
- the main chromophores of the human body are four:
- the light applied can be of two types:
- IPL non-coherent, polychromatic, not collimated (Intense Pulsed Light, xenon lamps with long-pass filters of different wavelengths of cut between 590 and 1200nm).
- the laser light is monochromatic (only emits in a wavelength) makes it have a selective effect on its application on a tissue and, according to different studies, makes it ideal for hair removal treatments on different types of skin .
- IPL systems emit in a wider band of wavelengths, making treatment less effective and riskier for dark skinned people.
- the application of light on the skin can destroy the hair follicles in three different ways: thermal (by local heating), mechanical (by shock waves or violent cavitation) and chemical (by generation of toxic compounds), all of them They can be found in the literature and have been studied for hair removal.
- thermal by local heating
- mechanical by shock waves or violent cavitation
- chemical by generation of toxic compounds
- the most frequently used lasers for portable laser hair removal equipment are semiconductor lasers (laser diodes) from 500mW to 808nm with focusing optics, since their wavelength allows a good depth of penetration and absorption of follicle melanin
- the current technology allows to have diodes of great power, which allows to have a large area of output of the beam to accelerate the treatment, allows to have laser diodes at different wavelengths to cover a greater range of hair types and skins, being a very compact system that has very little energy consumption.
- Pulsed C02 laser (10600nm) with spot size of diameter 1 cm with a topical solution of coal suspension in peach oil, which is outside the application that is wanted for our product. It also proposes the use of lasers emitting in near infrared (1060nm) with spot diameter of 4 to 6 mm and very low doses (3-6mJ / cm2), so low that it is doubtful that it can function as a depilator.
- US6632218 System containing a alexandrite laser with an optical fiber that carries the laser light generated towards the surface of the skin with the opening of the optical fiber. It uses pulses greater than 1 ms for the treatment, fluences of 10-50 J / cm2, as well as a topical solution to mark the points to be treated on the epidermis and to avoid harmful reflections on it.
- the proposed system is quite cumbersome, not very portable and must definitely be handled by a professional. It has no safety control system and uses a alexandrite laser that is one of the least efficient systems for this application.
- US2004 / 0015156 Device with laser illumination that includes a colorimeter to determine the color of the skin and choose between different doses to optimize the operation. Exposure of experimental measurements performed with 62 users in which a correlation between skin type according to the Fitzpatrick scale and the laser dose is established.
- Technical patent where the method of application is claimed rather than a specific product.
- US2005 / 0256514 Proposes the use of at least 5 packages (of duration 0-5 to 10 ms) of pulses (of size ns) in the administration of the dose (2 to 60 J / cm 2 ), instead of depositing the Total dose in a single pulse to avoid skin damage.
- WO2007 / 034161 This is the patent of the epilator known as Riolaser and is also marketed under other brands. This system is oriented to domestic sector, and contains a safety sensor that classifies it as a class I cone, however it is not portable, since it contains a control table and a head (telephone type) that the applicator carries.
- US7250045 Patent which proposes a light device ( ⁇ 1 kg) without cable and the use of an optical diffuser at the beam exit, to avoid the possibility of the laser causing eye damage, as well as the inclusion of a contact sensor. Due to the variation of the power of a diode laser against use (battery wear), the power decreases very fast and, therefore, the portability of equipment based on battery power is not realistic. On the other hand, and as we have seen before, placing an optical diffuser at the exit of a laser beam reduces its power, its focus and destroys its spatial coherence, which reduces its distance of penetration into the tissue.
- US7329252 Proposes a semiconductor laser system emitting at some wavelength between 600 and 1600nm with powers between 5 and 1500 mW, which includes a system that can expel air (cooling) or absorb it (bringing the area to be treated closer to the laser emission point ).
- the versatile portable laser hair removal device that the present invention proposes is configured as a remarkable novelty within its field of application, since, in accordance with its implementation and in a restrictive manner, the objectives of contributing to the state are satisfactorily achieved of the technique an improved portable device, of simple handling suitable for any user, of low economic cost to be accessible to all types of public and suitable for all types of users, regardless of the hair color they have, which, in addition, provides a high level of effectiveness in terms of the results in the hair removal obtained and, at the same time, is configured as totally safe in use.
- a laser hair removal device that, formed from an enveloping shell of ergonomic configuration suitable to house inside all the functional elements thereof with sufficient protection guarantees , includes a coherent laser light lighting system consisting of the direct illumination of one, two or three laser diodes, one for skin and light hair, another for olive skin and dark hair and one for black skin and dark hair power medium in red and near infrared, respectively through an optical lens of acrylic material and anti-reflective coating that focuses the laser on the opening of the instrument for its correct application.
- the chosen laser diodes have a good price / quality ratio, however, they emit according to a large beam divergence. This last feature makes the output of each laser beam elliptical, so the use of lenses to concentrate the beam in a more convenient area is contemplated.
- said diodes preferably, will be:
- each one since one, two or three diode lasers at three different wavelengths are included for three different skin / hair types, with different powers and openings, each one must be pressed with different period (time between pulses) and different pulse size
- the two lasers are located at a distance of 36.76mm from the opening (elliptic of major and minor axes 4mm and 3mm, respectively) and each laser is separated from the vertical 9 5 (18 5 between the two lasers).
- the aforementioned collimator lens for 18mm focal laser and effective diameter 4.37mm that has been pointed out above.
- the hair removal device based on recommended laser light has been designed so that there is a strong absorption by melanin and a deep penetration into the tissues, so it is configured as a system capable of causing retinal lesions. Due to this risk of ocular injury, the use of a contact sensor that prevents the ignition of the laser diodes in positions other than those of the treatment is contemplated, thereby making the instrument become classified as Class I according to the quality standard UNE-EN-60825-1, that is, safe in all reasonably foreseeable conditions, which allows the instrument to be considered as usual for use in the home.
- This system does not alter the specifications of the laser lighting (spatial and temporal coherence, aperture, power), but only the moment in which it is applied, unlike the alternative option used in other devices known in the market, and which consists of the Placing a diffuser in front of the laser beam outlet that causes the spatial coherence of the laser to be broken and its danger eliminated.
- Said system however, has the disadvantage that it modifies the spatial coherence of the laser beam, so that it reduces its penetration into the tissues, then it is necessary to increase the base power of the laser (increasing the cost of the system), it also modifies the aperture of the laser beam making it of greater diameter, so that the effective dose on the tissues is also reduced, being necessary to use a laser of greater power, and modifies the output power of the beam, since being a refractive element, the light has to pass through the diffuser, which always absorbs and reflects part of the incident light.
- the device has with a drive system based on contact buttons or "touch control” (TC), instead of mechanical or membrane buttons of more conventional use, which, as is known, is based on the physical phenomenon of the variation of the charge of a capacitor due to the electric charge of the human body.
- TC contact buttons or "touch control”
- the electrode is the electronic element of the system that most depends on the design of the instrument.
- the size of the CT electrode must keep an average proportion defined by its smallest dimension of 4 to 1 with respect to the distance of the same to the point of contact of the finger with the surface of the device, being able to take many forms (circular plane rectangular plane, spring type ).
- the contact sensor acts as a third push-button (automatic laser) when it detects that the instrument is positioned on skin / scalp.
- a laser laser on, laser off.
- the described portable multi-purpose laser hair removal device thus represents an innovative structure of structural and constitutive characteristics unknown until now for this purpose, reasons that together with its practical utility, provide it with sufficient foundation to obtain the privilege of exclusivity that is requested .
- Figures number 1, 2 and 3.- They show respectively, a top plan view, side elevation and front elevation of an example of embodiment of the portable laser depilator apparatus for multipurpose use, object of the invention, showing in them its external structural configuration .
- Figure number 4 Shows a sectional view, according to a cross-section of the part of the apparatus corresponding to the model with two laser diodes, according to the invention, in which the diodes it incorporates are housed, the optical arrangement thereof being appreciated therein. .
- the example apparatus corresponding to the model with two lasers (1) in question is formed from a casing (2) of ergonomic configuration, approximately elongated, whose front part is extended in a head (1 1) covered by a transparent dome (3), equipped with a hole (4) in its lower part, and inside which houses a laser lighting system consisting of two laser diodes (5, 6), of different lengths wave, power and opening, each pulsed with different period (time between pulses) and different pulse size, which are optimized one for dark hair (5) and another for light hair (6) of medium power in red and infrared, respectively, through an optical lens (7) of acrylic material and anti-reflective coating that focuses the laser in the hole (4) of the lower end of the head (1 1).
- a laser lighting system consisting of two laser diodes (5, 6), of different lengths wave, power and opening, each pulsed with different period (time between pulses) and different pulse size, which are optimized one for dark hair (5) and another for light hair (6) of medium power in red and infrared, respectively, through
- said diodes preferably, will be:
