Abstract

The present invention relates to a molded zeolite-based catalyst for an olefin cracking reaction, and to a method for producing light olefins from synthetic gas. More particularly, the present invention relates to a method for producing light olefins from synthetic gas by means of a process comprising two consecutive steps: synthetic gas containing carbon dioxide undergoes a Fischer-Tropsch reaction (hereinafter referred to as "FT") under an iron-based catalyst condition to produce hydrocarbon compounds having less methane parts and more olefin parts; and olefin compounds in the thus-produced hydrocarbon compounds undergo an olefin cracking reaction under a molded zeolite-based catalyst condition, to thereby significantly improve C2-C4 light olefin selectivity as compared to conventional light olefins. The catalyst for an olefin cracking reaction is enhanced in that it contains an aluminophosphate binder to adjust the strength of strong acid sites and to improve hydrothermal stability.
