Definitions
- Figures 1-10 illustrate features of quick release pouch technology that can be used in conjunction with a load carrier as described in patent applications assigned to Archangel Armor LLC.
- Figures 11-27 illustrate features of front load carrier technology.
- Figures 28-35 illustrate features of rear load carrier technology.
- Figures 1-10 show a quick release pouch assembly.
- the assembly does not have a hardware closure, e.g., no snaps, no zippers, to secure the opening.
- the outer pouch has an opening that is formed by over-lapping elastic bands 102, 104. This means that there's little risk of items falling out under normal circumstances, and little risk of fasteners or handles getting hung, snag, ripped open.
- the assembly further comprises a removable inner pouch 106 inside the outer pouch.
- the inner pouch is preferably made of a material that is pliable and smooth to a sufficient extent to facilitate rapid, e.g., jerk, removal when a tab 108 on the inner pouch is jerked out.
- the inner pouch 106 can be mesh (as shown), nylon, microfiber, etc.
- the inner pouch is sized sufficiently to hold a med kit. So we have an inner pouch that we can put anything in, from whole items to loose items, to whatever, we can very quickly extricate and access. This is much quicker to operate than a standard hardware fastened pouch.
- the embodiment illustrated in the figures is top/bottom symmetrical, allowing a user to wear it on either side, right or left, just by turning it upside down. Being symmetrical, the assembly is simpler to make than the standard pouches.
- the pouch assembly includes a utility bar 110 to hold items such as a tourniquet.
- the utility bar 1 10 is an approximately 6 inch piece of semi-rigid material, e.g., plastic, that can be reinforced with webbing and can include an elastic loop 112 in the middle that items such as a tourniquet can be slid into.
- the bar attaches to the outside of the outer pouch by virtue of two sewn webbing loops 114, 116 that allow a user to quickly grab and extract the utility bar 1 10 and items associated with it.
- entry points 118, 120 on each side of the MOLLE'd wearer's side of the outer pouch that allow a user to insert items, e.g., trauma shears, service scissors, knife, so that a user may access scissors from the top portion of the pouch - an improvement over pouches having trauma scissors on the inside or on the very front, where they may get caught or snagged.
- items e.g., trauma shears, service scissors, knife
- FIGS 11 -27 illustrate a front carrier assembly 200 that interfaces with the front of a tactical load carrier 300, e.g., a armor plate carrier, outer tactical vest.
- This front carrier assembly 200 can attach directly on to a plate carrier 300 without using additional shoulder straps. It can be released from the front portion of a plate carrier 300 through various attachment/release mechanisms, e.g., side release.
- the front carrier assembly 200 illustrated in Figures 11-27 is configure to with pockets 202 and retainers 204 for carrying ammunition magazines 206, though the assembly 200 can be configured for other uses known to military and tactical users.
- the front carrier assembly 200 has various fastener mechanisms (e.g., hook and loop) on the wearer side 208.
- a first set of fastener mechanisms (e.g., both hook and loop 210a, 210b) is attached to a rear flap 212 (the wearer side 212a when the flap is closed).
- the outer member 210a of the first set remains attached to the inner member 210b of the first set when the wearer side of this flap is not used for fastener anchoring.
- This outer member 210a can be removed, e.g., as shown in Figure 13, when this side of the flap is used for anchoring using the inner member 210b.
- the opposite side 212b of the flap 212 include fastener 214a (e.g., hook and loop) to mate with the wearer side 216 of the main assembly.
- Load-bearing straps 218 (shown terminated with the male portion 220 of a side release fastener) are secured to the main assembly on laterally-adjustable buckles 222 mounted to a horizontal webbing 224 at the top wearer side of the main assembly.
- the fasteners 220 attached to the load bearing straps mate with corresponding fasteners 330 on the load carrier 300.
- the fasteners 330 on the load carrier 300 are secure to the existing shoulder attachments - an advantage in lessening the need for additional over-the-shoulder straps.
- Stabilizing fasteners 228 (shown as female side release fasteners) attached to each lower side of the main assembly can mate with corresponding fasteners 230 on the load carrier 300, e.g., on the hip belt, cummerbund, or other side portion of the load carrier 300.
- the assembly 200 can attach to the cummerbund area 310 of a load carrier 300 by mating the fasteners on the wearer side 212a of the outer rear flap to the fasteners 310 on the cummerbund.
- the main assembly When fastened in this fashion, the main assembly can be folded up over the cummerbund flap 330 and wings 320a, 320b and the fasteners 220 at the end of the load bearing straps 218 of the assembly can be fastened to the corresponding points 330 on the carrier 300.
- the assembly 200 can also be attached to the earner 300 using only the load bearing fasteners 220 and the stabilizing fasteners 228 mating with corresponding fasteners on the carrier.
- the earner 300 can also be attached to the earner 300 using only the load bearing fasteners 220 and the stabilizing fasteners 228 mating with corresponding fasteners on the carrier.
- FIGs 28-35 illustrate an embodiment of rear carrier technology integrated into a load carrier 300.
- the figures use a backpack 400 as an example rear load.
- the backpack can be with or without harness and hip belt.
- the load 400 can be secured to the carrier 300 at both load- bearing fasteners 340 and stabilizing fasteners (not shown).
- the load bearing fasteners 340 are integrated into the existing shoulder strap of the carrier 300 and mate with load fasteners 410. Lateral stability is obtained using fasteners attached to the side of the load 400 and connected to the carrier at the hip belt (not shown).
- Figures 28-35 also illustrate a single point weapon sling 500 that can attach to the carrier 300 on the frame or rear outer carrier in the rear center.
- the sling 500 can be routed along the lift 360 on either side and is attached to the lift with an elastic bungee the weight of your weapon system is routed along the lift and removed from the user's neck and shoulder.
