Definitions
- the present invention relates to the field of communications, and in particular, to a method and an apparatus for allocating a tracking area identification list. Background technique
- Machine Type Communication refers to communication between a machine and a machine via a mobile operator's communication network.
- MTC equipment (Machine Type Communication Device) is a terminal device dedicated to machine type communication in a communication network, such as a remote meter reading device, a video monitoring device, and the like.
- the MTC device is an unattended, special type of communication terminal.
- the MTC server (Machine Type Communication Server) refers to a device that communicates with an MTC device through a communication network, such as a server of a smart meter reading system, an intelligent bus system server, and the like.
- the Mobile Originated Only device (the device that initiates communication only by the terminal, referred to as the MO device) is a device that initiates communication only by the terminal, and is characterized in that the communication between the terminal and the network is initiated by the terminal, and the network does not reach the terminal. Initiate a page.
- TS 22.368 defines the business requirements for MO devices:
- the network should provide a mechanism for the network operator to reduce the frequency of the mobility management process at the MTC Device granularity
- the network operator should be able to configure the device to perform the mobility management process only when the terminal initiates communication.
- the MT device (Infrequent Mobile Terminated) is another MTC device, which means that the device mainly performs terminal-initiated communication, but there are still infrequent terminal terminated communication.
- TS 22.368 defines the business requirements for MT device characteristics: - The network operator should be able to reduce the frequency of the mobility management process at the MTC Device granularity;
- the network operator should be able to reduce the mobility management process caused by equipment movement.
- the granularity of the EPS system for mobility management of idle state terminals is the Tracking Area (TA).
- the mobility management entity Mobile Management Entity, MME
- TAI List TAI List
- the terminal enters a TA that does not belong to the registered TAI list
- the MME allocates a new TAI list containing the current TA to the terminal during the TAU process.
- the network can also assign a new TAI list to the terminal during the Global Unique Temporary Identity Reallocation (GUTI Reallocation) process.
- GUI Reallocation Global Unique Temporary Identity Reallocation
- the MME sends a paging message to the base stations in all TAs under the TAI list, and the base station and TA in which the terminal responds to the paging message indicates the base station and the TA.
- the size of the TAI list is contradictory to the amount of paging signaling. That is, the larger the TAI list, the smaller the frequency of the TAI list boundary when the user moves, so the smaller the TAU frequency, the larger the TAI list makes the search.
- the amount of call timing is large, and the interference to other users is more.
- the smaller the TAI list is the smaller the range is, the less the signalling is, but the frequency of TAUs in the terminal is compared. Big. Therefore, assigning the appropriate TAI list is very important to optimize system performance.
- the 3GPP SA1 working group proposed a need to reduce the frequency of the mobility management process, but no specific implementation method has been proposed at present.
- One way to easily reduce the mobility management frequency is to extend the timeout of the periodic TAU timer, but this still does not prevent the mobile device from having a TAU across the TAU list boundary. For example, a sensor device fixed on a bird, assuming that the system presets to send data once a month, but due to the movement of the device, TAU may be frequently performed when data is not transmitted. By With a large number of MTC devices, these unnecessary signaling overheads will reduce the efficiency of the system and increase the cost of operation and maintenance. Summary of the invention
- an object of the present invention is to provide a method and apparatus for allocating a tracking area identification list to solve at least one of the above problems.
- a method for allocating a tracking area identifier list including: the mobility management entity determining whether the terminal belongs to a device that initiates communication only by the terminal or an infrequent terminal termination device; If the terminal belongs to a device initiated only by the terminal or an infrequent terminal termination device, the mobility management entity includes all the tracking areas of the subordinate in the tracking area identification list and assigns the tracking area identification list to the terminal, so that the terminal is only in the cross
- the tracking area update process is initiated only when the mobility management entity.
- a device for distributing a tracking area identifier list including: a terminal type determining module, configured to determine whether a terminal belongs to a device that initiates communication only by a terminal or terminates an infrequent terminal. And a tracking area identifier list allocation module, configured to include all tracking areas subordinate to the mobility management entity in the tracking area identifier list if the terminal belongs to a device initiated only by the terminal or an infrequent terminal termination device The tracking area identification list is assigned to the terminal, so that the terminal initiates the tracking area update process only when it crosses the mobility management entity.
- the frequency of its TAU can be reduced by allocating a sufficiently large TAI list for devices that initiate communication only by the terminal or infrequent terminal termination devices. Therefore, with this allocation method, the performance of mobility management can be optimized, and the MME always knows the location of the terminal and does not affect the network's visibility of the device location.

- MO devices Mobile Originated Only
- Infrequent Mobile Terminated devices that are mainly initiated by the terminal or terminated by infrequent terminals (communication)
- the latter means that the device is mainly used for terminal-initiated communication, but can still perform infrequent terminal-terminated communication.
- the 3GPP SA1 working group proposed a need to reduce the mobility management process.
- the present invention proposes a method for optimizing mobility management and reducing signaling between devices and networks through special allocation of TAI lists.
- the communication of the MO device is initiated only by the terminal, and the system does not need to send a paging message to it, so there is no problem that the paging information is too large. That is to say, for the MO device, when the TAI list is allocated, it is not necessary to consider The call volume has a constraint on the TAI list.
- the MT device mainly performs terminal-initiated communication, and only has infrequent paging. Therefore, even if the amount of paging is slightly larger, the system as a whole does not have much influence on the system.
- a TAI list can be allocated as large as possible, so that the device has the lowest probability of generating a TAU by entering a TA that does not belong to the allocated TAI list.
- the "as large as possible" TAI list can be illustrated by the example shown in Figure 1.
- MME1 assigns subordinates TAl-TA n-1 to the terminal.
- Embodiments of the present invention propose a method capable of reducing mobility management frequency: Allocating TAI
- the MME allocates all the subordinate TAs to the terminal in the TAI list, so that the terminal initiates the TAU process only when it crosses the MME.
- FIG. 2 is a flow diagram of a method of assigning a tracking area identification list in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention. As shown in FIG. 2, the method for allocating the tracking area identifier list includes:
- Step S102 The mobility management entity determines whether the terminal belongs to a device that initiates communication only by the terminal or an infrequent terminal termination device;
- Step S104 If the terminal belongs to a device initiated only by the terminal or an infrequent terminal termination device, the mobility management entity includes all the tracking areas of the subordinate in the tracking area identification list and allocates the tracking area identification list to the terminal, so that the terminal The tracking area update process is initiated only when the mobility management entity is crossed.
- the allocation method when the terminal attaches, or during the global unique temporary identification redistribution process, or during the location update process, the allocation method can be performed.
- the mobility management entity may determine, according to the subscription data of the terminal, whether the terminal belongs to a device initiated only by the terminal or an infrequent terminal termination device.
- the tracking area update process is performed. After the new mobility management entity obtains the relevant information of the terminal, the tracking area identification list is re-allocated to the terminal according to the allocation method.

According to whether the included TAI is in the same Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) and whether the coding is continuous, some TAI lists are divided into three types:
- the included TAI is in the same PLMN, but the encoding is not continuous.
- the included TAI is not in the same PLMN.
- a partial TAI list of type of list 000, because the included TAI belongs to the same PLMN, that is, the mobile country code (MCC) and the mobile network code (Mobile Network Code) of all TAIs. Same, so you can take one
- MCC mobile country code
- Mobile Network Code Mobile Network Code
- Partial tracking area identification list - type of list "000'
- Type of list 001 type Partial TAI list, because the included TAI belongs to the same PLMN and the coding is continuous, that is, the MCC and MNC of all TAIs are the same, and the TAC is continuous, so a more efficient coding format can be adopted, as shown in the following table. Shown as follows:
- Partial tracking area identification list - type of list "001"
- Number of elements indicates the number of TAs contained in the partial TAI list.
- Number of elements is 16 (01111), and if its highest bit is set to 1, no matter The specific value of the last four digits, the terminal also treats Number of elements as 16 processing.
- TAC k represents the TAC of the kth TAI;
- TAC 1 represents the TAC of the first TA of these consecutive TAs, due to the inclusion
- the TAs are all continuously encoded, so the TAI of each TA can be derived from the number of TAIs and TAs of the first TA.
- the number of TAs included in the TAI list cannot exceed 16. If the number of TAs managed by the MME exceeds 16, there is no disclosure of how to assign all TAs to the terminal. In actual deployment, the allocation of TAs is continuous in a certain area, so the existing coding mode can be extended and extended, and more TAs are represented by smaller storage units.
- Embodiments of the present invention propose the following methods:
- the tracking area identification list assigning module 304 extends the Number of elements so that up to 32 TAs can be represented, and the total number of TAs in the TAI list can exceed 16.
- each partial TAI list can represent 32 TAs and occupy only 6 bytes. If the number of TAs of the MME is less than 32, the TAI list may include a partial TAI list; if the number of TAs of the MME is more than 32, the number of partial TAI lists may be increased. Under the constraint that the TAI list can be up to 98 bytes, the entire TAI list can contain up to 16 partial TAI lists, each containing up to 32 TAs.
- a partial TAI list of type 000 For cases where the TA is not completely continuous, you can use a partial TAI list of type 000, or use a partial TAI list of type 000 and 001 at the same time.
- a partial TAI list of type 000 Number of Elements extends up to 68 bytes. If the number of TAs in the MME is more than 32, you can increase the number of partial TAI lists.
- the tracking area identifier list assigning module 304 may allocate one or more TAI lists to the terminal to increase the tracking area identifier list.
- the number of tracking areas, the specific allocation method is as described above. You can also add one or more tracking area lists directly.
- the MME performs the TAI list allocation process as follows:
- the MME determines, according to the subscription data of the terminal, that the terminal belongs to a device that initiates communication only by the terminal or an infrequent terminal terminates the device.
- the MME includes all of the subordinate TAs in the TAI list and assigns them to the terminal in Attach accept.
- the new MME obtains the context of the terminal and checks whether the terminal characteristics are terminated only by the terminal initiated communication or infrequent terminal, and if so, all TAs are also included in the TAI. Assigned to the terminal in the list.
- the MME may initiate a global unique temporary identity re-allocation process, and at the same time, re-allocate the tracking area identifier list to the terminal according to the allocation method.
- a MO device for water level line monitoring is fixedly distributed along the river. When the water level exceeds the preset value, the data is reported, and the device does not accept the downlink data.
- the TAI list contains a partial TAI list, including 20 Continuous TA. When the device moves within these 20 TAs (also the scope of this MME), TAU will not occur; TAIL will only be done when the device is outside this range.
- the frequency of the TAU can be reduced by allocating a sufficiently large TAI list for devices that do not often have downlink data or even downlink data.
- the performance of mobility management can be optimized, and the MME always knows the location of the terminal, and can establish a connection with the device through paging.
