Abstract

The invention relates to a battery system for a motor vehicle with an internal combustion engine, said battery system comprising at least one low-voltage on-board power supply system and an on-board power supply system with higher voltage. The low-voltage on-board power supply system comprises at least one first battery (10) which is designed to generate a first voltage and to output said voltage to the low-voltage on-board power supply system, and at least one electrical load (14-2) connected to the first battery (10). The on-board power supply system with higher voltage comprises at least one second battery (15) which is designed to generate a second voltage, which is higher than the first voltage, and to output said voltage to the on-board power supply system with higher voltage, and an electrical generator (11-13, 13-2) which can be operated by the internal combustion engine and which is designed to generate, when operated by the internal combustion engine in a generator mode, a third voltage, which is higher than the second voltage, and to output said voltage to the on-board power supply system with higher voltage. The on-board power supply system with higher voltage is connected to the low-voltage on-board power supply system via a coupling unit (17) which is designed to withdraw electric power from the on-board power supply system with higher voltage and to supply said electric power to the low-voltage on-board power supply system. The invention further relates to a motor vehicle comprising a corresponding battery system.
