Abstract

The invention relates to a device (10) for partially severing a workpiece (11), which preferably consists of leather, synthetic material or the like, at least in some sections, wherein the device comprises a support (12) for the workpiece (11), a cutting unit (14) that is guided by a guide unit (20) and arranged on a tool holder of the guide unit (20) by means of a mounting (16), and a detection element (26), which is arranged on the tool holder (22) and designed to detect a distance between the detection element (26) and the support (12).
