Definitions
- the present invention relates to a lighting device, a display device, and a television receiver.
- a backlight device is separately required as a lighting device.
- This backlight device is well known to be installed on the back side of the liquid crystal panel (opposite the display surface), and is housed in the chassis as a lamp having an opening on the liquid crystal panel side surface.
- a large number of light sources for example, cold cathode tubes
- an optical member such as a diffusion plate
- the linear light is converted into planar light by an optical member, thereby making the illumination light uniform.
- an optical member thereby making the illumination light uniform.
- the conversion into the planar light is not sufficiently performed, a striped lamp image is generated along the arrangement of the light sources, and the display quality of the liquid crystal display device is deteriorated.
- the number of light sources to be arranged can be increased to reduce the distance between adjacent light sources, or the diffusion degree of the diffusion plate can be increased. desirable.
- increasing the number of light sources increases the cost of the backlight device and increases the power consumption.
- a backlight device disclosed in Patent Document 1 below is known as a backlight device that maintains luminance uniformity while suppressing power consumption.
- the backlight device described in Patent Document 1 includes a diffusion plate arranged in the light projecting direction of a plurality of light sources, and the diffusion plate has a total light transmittance (aperture ratio) of 62 to 71%, and A light control dot pattern having a haze value of 90 to 99% is printed.
- the dot diameter is large immediately above the light source, and the dot diameter decreases as the distance from the light source increases. According to such a configuration, the light emitted from the light source is efficiently used to irradiate light having a sufficient luminance value and uniform luminance without increasing the power consumption of the light source. It is supposed to be possible.
- a linear light source used in the apparatus disclosed in Patent Document 1 is a non-light-emitting region in which an end portion does not emit light.
- the emitted light amount of the light source differs from site to site in the longitudinal direction.
- the area of each dot is different in the direction orthogonal to the longitudinal direction of the light source, while the area of each dot is uniform in the direction along the longitudinal direction of the light source. Accordingly, the luminance of the illumination light can be adjusted in a direction orthogonal to the longitudinal direction of the light source, while it is difficult to adjust the luminance of the illumination light in the direction along the longitudinal direction of the light source. Yes.
- a local dark place can be formed in the illumination light.
- a light source having a relatively short length i.e., a light emitting region of the light source
- a dark place is further formed at the edge of the diffusion plate. It becomes easy to form.
- Such a local dark part has a large luminance difference from the bright part, so that it is easy to be visually recognized, and there is a possibility that the quality as a lighting device and the visibility in the display device may be lowered.
- the present invention has been made based on the above situation, and an object thereof is to provide an illuminating device capable of obtaining a substantially uniform illumination luminance distribution without a local dark portion. Moreover, an object of this invention is to provide the display apparatus provided with such an illuminating device, and also the television receiver provided with such a display apparatus.
- an illumination device of the present invention is a light source having a longitudinal shape, a chassis that houses the light source and has an opening for emitting light from the light source, and faces the light source.
- An optical member disposed so as to cover the opening, and the optical member has different light reflectivities in each region along the longitudinal direction of the light source. According to such a configuration, for example, when the amount of emitted light differs from region to region in the longitudinal direction of the light source, such as when the amount of emitted light decreases on the end side of the light source, the light reflectance of the optical member is adjusted along the longitudinal direction of the light source. Therefore, the amount of light transmitted through the optical member can be controlled, and a uniform luminance distribution as a whole can be obtained.
- the optical member may have a light reflectance that decreases from the longitudinal center of the light source toward the end. According to such a configuration, for example, even when the central portion of the light source is a light emitting region and the end portion of the light source is a non-light emitting region, the light reflectance of the optical member is reduced on the end side of the light source. Therefore, a relatively large amount of light can be transmitted, and it is difficult to form a local dark place.
- the optical member may have a different light reflectance for each region along a direction intersecting with a longitudinal direction of the light source. According to such a configuration, for example, even when the amount of light passing through the optical member varies from region to region due to a difference in distance from the light source, the light reflectance of the optical member is changed from region to region. As a result, a uniform luminance distribution can be obtained.
- the optical member includes a light source overlapping portion that overlaps with the light source, and a light source non-overlapping portion that does not overlap with the light source, and at least the light source overlapping portion is directed from the center in the longitudinal direction of the light source toward the end.
- the light reflectance can be reduced.
- the end side of the light source in the light source superimposing portion is particularly likely to be a local dark place because of a large difference in brightness from the surroundings.
- light from the light source can be relatively easily transmitted, and it is difficult to form a local dark place.
- the light reflectance of the light source superimposing portion may be relatively larger than the light reflectance of the non-light source superimposing portion. According to such a configuration, the light emitted from the light source first reaches the light source superimposing portion of the optical member. Since this light source overlapping portion has a relatively high light reflectance, much of the light that has arrived is reflected (that is, not transmitted), and the luminance of the illumination light is suppressed with respect to the amount of light emitted from the light source. Is done. On the other hand, the light reflected here may be reflected again in the chassis and reach the light source non-overlapping portion.
- the light source non-overlapping portion of the optical member has a relatively low light reflectance, a larger amount of light is transmitted, and the luminance of predetermined illumination light can be obtained.
- power saving can be realized without arranging a large number of light sources, and a substantially uniform luminance distribution can be obtained as a whole lighting apparatus.
- the optical member may have a light reflectance that gradually decreases gradually from a portion having a high light reflectance toward a portion having a small light reflectance.
- the optical member can have its light reflectance gradually reduced stepwise from a portion having a high light reflectance toward a small portion.
- the luminance distribution of the illumination light can be made gentle by decreasing the light reflectance of the optical member in a gradation, more specifically, gradually gradually or stepwise. As a result, it is possible to realize an illumination luminance distribution having excellent uniformity with little unevenness as the entire illumination device.
- emitted among the said light sources can be made small compared with the length along the longitudinal direction of the said light source in the said optical member.
- the light from the light source is difficult to reach the edge located on the end side of the light source in the optical member, and is locally at the edge. Dark places are likely to occur.
- by changing the light reflectance of the optical member for each region using the configuration of the present invention more specifically, by reducing the light reflectance on the end side of the light source, light is emitted at the edge of the optical member. Transmission can be facilitated, and generation of local dark places can be suppressed.
- a light reflecting portion that reflects light from the light source may be formed on the surface of the optical member on the light source side.
- the light reflectance on the light source side surface of the optical member can be appropriately changed depending on the mode of the light reflecting portion.
- the said light reflection part shall be comprised by the dot pattern provided with the light reflectivity.
- the degree of reflection can be controlled by the pattern mode (number (density), area, etc.), and uniform illumination luminance can be easily obtained. It becomes possible.
- the chassis has at least a portion facing the optical member, a first end, a second end located at an end opposite to the first end, the first end, A light source arrangement region in which the light source is arranged in one or two portions of the first end portion, the second end portion, and the central portion.
- the remaining part may be a light source non-arrangement region where the light source is not arranged.
- one or two portions of the first end portion, the second end portion, and the center portion of the chassis serve as a light source arrangement region in which a light source is arranged, and the remaining portion has a light source. Since the light source is not arranged in the non-arranged area, the number of light sources can be reduced as compared with the case where light sources are uniformly arranged in the entire chassis, and the cost of the lighting device and power saving can be reduced. Can be realized.
- the area of the light source arrangement region may be smaller than the area of the light source non-arrangement region.
- the light from the light source can be guided to the light source non-arrangement region in the chassis. . Therefore, a greater effect can be expected in reducing costs and saving power while maintaining uniformity of illumination luminance.
- the light source arrangement region may be formed in the central portion of the chassis.
- sufficient luminance can be secured in the central portion of the lighting device, and the luminance of the display central portion is also secured in the display device including the lighting device. Therefore, good visibility can be obtained.
- the optical member may be a light diffusing member that diffuses light from the light source.
- the light diffusing member in addition to controlling the light transmittance for each region in the optical member by the light reflectance distribution of the optical member, the light diffusing member can diffuse the light. Can be made more uniform.
- the light source may be a hot cathode tube. In this way, it is possible to increase the brightness.
- the light source may be a cold cathode tube. By doing so, it is possible to extend the life and to easily perform light control.
- the light source may be a plurality of LEDs arranged in parallel. In this way, it is possible to extend the life and reduce power consumption.
- a display device of the present invention includes the above-described lighting device and a display panel that performs display using light from the lighting device. According to such a display device, it is possible to obtain a substantially uniform illumination luminance distribution without a local dark portion in the lighting device, and therefore, it is possible to realize a good display in which display unevenness is suppressed in the display device. Is possible.
- a liquid crystal panel can be exemplified as the display panel.
- Such a display device can be applied as a liquid crystal display device to various uses such as a display of a television or a personal computer, and is particularly suitable for a large screen.
- the television receiver of this invention is provided with the said display apparatus. According to such a television receiver, it is possible to provide a device with excellent visibility without display unevenness.

- the printing means screen printing, ink jet printing and the like are suitable.
- the length of the light emitting area EA of the hot cathode tube 17 is substantially the same as the length in the long side direction (X-axis direction) of the diffusion plate 15a.
- the light reflecting portion 50 has an in-plane light reflectivity of 80% facing the hot cathode tube 17, and the in-plane light reflectivity of the diffuser plate 15a is 30%.
- the light reflectance is relatively large.
- the light reflectance of each material is the average light reflectance within the measurement diameter measured by LAV (measurement diameter ⁇ 25.4 mm) of CM-3700d manufactured by Konica Minolta.
- the light reflectivity of the light reflecting portion 50 itself is a value obtained by forming the light reflecting portion 50 over the entire surface of the glass substrate and measuring the formation surface based on the measuring means.
- the light reflectivity of the light reflecting portion 50 itself is preferably 80% or more, and more preferably 90% or more.
- the diffusion plate 15 a has a long side direction (a direction along the longitudinal direction of the hot cathode tube 17, an X-axis direction) and a short side direction (the hot cathode) according to the dot pattern of the light reflecting portion 50.
- the light reflectance of the surface facing the hot cathode tube 17 is different for each region. That is, in the short side direction of the diffuser plate 15a, the light reflectance of the portion (hereinafter referred to as the light source overlapping portion DA) overlapping with the portion where the hot cathode tube 17 is arranged is not arranged.
- a light source non-overlapping portion DN a portion that overlaps with the portion
- the light reflectance is 50% and shows the maximum value.
- the light reflectance continuously decreases from the side closer to the light source overlapping portion DA toward the side farther from the light source non-superimposing portion DN. Both ends (indicated by A and A ′ in FIGS. 8 and 9) are 30% of the minimum value.
- the light reflectance decreases from the central portion in the short side direction of the diffuser plate 15a toward both ends. Yes.
- the light reflectance decreases from the center of the hot cathode tube 17 toward both ends. More specifically, the light reflectance of the diffuser plate 15a at the center of the hot cathode tube 17 in the light source overlapping portion DA is 50%, which is the maximum value. The light reflectance continuously decreases from the side closer to the central portion toward the far side, and both end portions in the long side direction of the diffusion plate 15a (indicated by B and B ′ in FIGS. 8 and 10). And 30% of the minimum value. Further, the light source non-overlapping portion DN of the diffusion plate 15a also has a configuration in which the light reflectance decreases from the center portion in the longitudinal direction of the hot cathode tube 17 toward the end portion.
- the light reflectance distribution of the diffusing plate 15a as described above is determined by the area of each dot of the light reflecting portion 50. That is, since the light reflectivity of the light reflecting portion 50 itself is larger than the light reflectivity of the diffusion plate 15a itself, if the area of the dots of the light reflecting portion 50 is relatively large, the light reflecting portion 50 The rate can be made relatively large, and the light reflectance can be made relatively small if the area of the dots of the light reflecting portion 50 is made relatively small.
- the diffusion plate 15a has a relatively large area of dots of the light reflecting portion 50 at the central portion in the longitudinal direction of the hot cathode tube 17 and the central portion in the direction orthogonal to the longitudinal direction. The area of the dots of the light reflecting portion 50 continuously decreases toward the portion.
- the area of each dot of the light reflection part 50 is made the same, and it is good also as what changes the space
- the diffuser plate 15 a has a different light reflectance for each region along the longitudinal direction of the hot cathode tube 17.
- the light reflectivity of the diffusion plate 15a is different when the amount of emitted light differs from region to region in the longitudinal direction of the hot cathode tube 17, for example, the amount of emitted light decreases on the end side of the hot cathode tube 17. Is changed for each region along the longitudinal direction of the hot cathode tube 17, the amount of light transmitted through the diffusion plate 15a can be controlled, and a uniform luminance distribution can be obtained as a whole.
- the diffuser plate 15 a has a configuration in which the light reflectance varies from region to region along the direction intersecting with the longitudinal direction of the hot cathode tube 17. According to such a configuration, even when the amount of light passing through the diffuser plate 15a varies from region to region as the distance from the hot cathode tube 17 varies, the light reflectance of the diffuser plate 15a varies from region to region. Thus, a uniform luminance distribution can be obtained as a whole.
- the diffuser plate 15 a has a light reflectance that decreases from the center in the longitudinal direction of the hot cathode tube 17 toward the end. According to such a configuration, even when the central portion of the hot cathode tube 17 is the light emitting area EA and the end portion of the hot cathode tube 17 is the non-light emitting region NA, the end side of the hot cathode tube 17 is used. Then, since the light reflectance of the diffusion plate 15a is small, a relatively large amount of light can be transmitted, and it is difficult to form a local dark place.
- the diffusion plate 15a includes a light source overlapping part DA that overlaps with the hot cathode tube 17 and a light source non-overlapping part DN that does not overlap with the hot cathode tube 17, and at least in the light source overlapping part DA,
- the light reflectance decreases from the center in the longitudinal direction toward the end.
- the end portion side of the hot cathode tube 17 in the light source overlapping portion DA is particularly likely to be a local dark place because of a large difference in brightness from the surroundings.
- the light from the hot cathode tube 17 can be relatively easily transmitted, and it is difficult to form a local dark place.
- the light reflectance of the light source overlapping part DA is relatively larger than the light reflectance of the light source non-overlapping part DN. According to such a configuration, the light emitted from the hot cathode tube 17 first reaches the light source overlapping portion DA in the diffusion plate 15a. Since the light reflectivity of the light source overlapping part DA is relatively large, much of the light that has arrived is reflected (that is, not transmitted), and the illumination light corresponds to the amount of light emitted from the hot cathode tube 17. The brightness of is suppressed. On the other hand, the light reflected here may be reflected again in the chassis 14 and reach the light source non-overlapping portion DN.
- the light source non-overlapping portion DN of the diffuser plate 15a has a relatively low light reflectance, more light is transmitted, and the luminance of predetermined illumination light can be obtained.
- power saving can be realized without arranging a large number of hot cathode tubes 17, and a substantially uniform luminance distribution can be obtained for the entire backlight device 12.
- the diffusion plate 15a has a configuration in which the light reflectance is gradually and gradually decreased from a portion having a large light reflectance toward a small portion. In this way, the brightness distribution of the illumination light can be made gentle by making the light reflectance of the diffusion plate 15a gradation gradually, more specifically, gradually and continuously, and consequently the backlight device. As a whole, it is possible to realize an illumination luminance distribution having excellent uniformity with little unevenness.
- the light reflection part 50 which reflects the light from the said hot cathode tube 17 is formed in the surface which opposes the hot cathode tube 17 among the diffusion plates 15a, a diffusion plate is set according to the aspect of the said light reflection part 50. It is possible to appropriately change the light reflectivity on the surface of the hot cathode tube 17 side of 15a.
- the grade of reflection can be controlled by the aspect (number (density), area, etc.) of the pattern, and it is uniform easily It is possible to obtain a high illumination brightness.
- the chassis 14 has a bottom plate 30 facing the diffusion plate 15a at least at the first end 30A and the second end 30B located at the end opposite to the first end 30A. And a central portion 30C sandwiched between the first end portion 30A and the second end portion 30B, and one portion of the first end portion 30A, the second end portion 30B, and the central portion 30C is a hot cathode.
- the light source arrangement area LA in which the tube 17 is arranged is used, while the remaining part is a light source non-arrangement area LN in which the hot cathode tube 17 is not arranged.
- the number of hot cathode tubes 17 can be reduced as compared with the case where the hot cathode tubes 17 are uniformly arranged in the entire chassis 14, and the cost of the backlight device 12 can be reduced. In addition, power saving can be realized.
- the area of the light source arrangement area LA is smaller than the area of the light source non-arrangement area LN.
- the light from the hot cathode tube 17 is, for example, the light reflecting section 50.
- the light source arrangement area LA is formed in the central portion 30 ⁇ / b> C of the chassis 14. In this case, sufficient luminance can be ensured in the central portion of the backlight device 12, and the luminance of the display central portion is also ensured in the liquid crystal display device 10 including the backlight device 12, which is favorable. Visibility can be obtained.
- the diffusion plate 15 a is a light diffusion member that diffuses light from the hot cathode tube 17.
- the light diffusion member in addition to controlling the light transmittance between the light source overlapping part DA and the light source non-overlapping part DN in the diffusion plate 15a by the light reflectance distribution of the light reflecting part 50, the light diffusion member can diffuse the light. Therefore, the in-plane luminance in the backlight device 12 can be made more uniform.

More specifically, as shown in FIG. 11, a first region 51 having a relatively high light reflectance is formed in the light source overlapping portion DA located at the center of the diffusion plate 150 a, and surrounds the first region 51. Thus, a second region 52 having a light reflectance that is relatively smaller than that of the first region 51 is formed.
- a third region 53 having a light reflectance that is relatively smaller than that of the second region 52 of the skull is formed so as to surround the second region 52, and relative to the third region so as to surround the third region 53.
- a fourth region 54 having a small light reflectance is formed.
- region is formed in the outer edge part of the diffusion plate 150a so that the 4th area
- the light reflectance in the short side direction of the diffusion plate 150a (the direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the hot cathode tube 17, the Y-axis direction) is 50% in the first region 51, as shown in FIG.
- the second region 52 is 45%
- the third region 53 is 40%

- the light reflectance is determined by changing the dot area of the light reflecting portion 50, and the light reflecting portion 50 is formed in the fifth region 55. In other words, it indicates the light reflectance of the diffusion plate 150a itself.
- a plurality of regions 52, 53, 54, and 55 having different light reflectivities are formed in the diffusion plate 150 a, and light is sequentially emitted in the order of the second region 52 ⁇ the third region 53 ⁇ the fourth region 54 ⁇ the fifth region 55.
- the light reflectivity can be successively reduced step by step from the side closer to the light source overlapping portion DA to the side farther from it.
- the luminance distribution of illumination light in the light source non-overlapping portion DN (light source non-arrangement region LN) can be made smooth, and as a result, a gentle illumination luminance distribution is realized as the entire backlight device 12. It becomes possible.
- the manufacturing method of the diffusion plate 150a can be simplified, which can contribute to cost reduction. Become.

That is, the light reflecting portion 50 is not formed in the light source non-overlapping portion DN (the portion not overlapping with the hot cathode tube 17) of the diffusion plate 250a.
- the area of each dot is continuously reduced from the central portion in the longitudinal direction of the hot cathode tube 17 toward the end portion. Therefore, the light reflectance at the light source overlapping portion DA of the diffusion plate 250a is gradually decreased from the central portion to the end portion in the longitudinal direction of the hot cathode tube 17.
- the light emitted from the hot cathode tube 17 first reaches the light source overlapping part DA in the diffusion plate 250a. Since the light source non-overlapping portion DN of the diffuser plate 15a has a relatively low light reflectance, more light is transmitted, and the luminance of predetermined illumination light can be obtained.
- the light reflectivity at the light source overlapping portion DA of the diffusion plate 250a is gradually decreased from the central portion in the longitudinal direction of the hot cathode tube 17 toward the end portion, so that light is transmitted at the end portion. This makes it easy to form a local dark place.

- the cold-cathode tube 70 has an elongated tubular shape with a diameter of 4.0 mm. In a state where the length direction (axial direction) coincides with the long side direction of the chassis 14, a large number of the cold-cathode tubes 70 are arranged in parallel with each other.

- Region LA-1 is formed.
- the cold cathode tube 70 is not disposed at the first end portion 31A and the second end portion 31B of the bottom plate 31, and a light source non-arrangement region LN-1 is formed here.
- the ratio of the area of the light source arrangement area LA-1 to the area of the bottom plate 31 of the chassis 14 may vary depending on the number of the cold cathode tubes 70, but 20% to 60% from the viewpoint of saving power and ensuring luminance. In this embodiment, it is set to 42%.
- the cold cathode tube 70 is held by a lamp clip (not shown) so that a slight gap is provided between the cold cathode tube 70 and the bottom plate 31 of the chassis 14. It is supported by. Further, a heat transfer member 61 is interposed in the gap so as to contact a part of the cold cathode tube 70 and the bottom plate 31. Heat is transferred from the cold cathode tube 70, which has been heated at the time of lighting, to the chassis 14 via the heat transfer member 61. Therefore, the temperature of the cold cathode tube 70 is lowered at the portion where the heat transfer member 61 is disposed, and forced. Thus, the coldest spot can be formed. As a result, it is possible to improve the luminance per one cold cathode tube 70 and contribute to power saving.
- the mountain-shaped reflecting portion 62 is made of synthetic resin, and the surface thereof is white with excellent light reflectivity.
- the inclined surface 62 a faces the cold cathode tube 70 and is inclined toward the bottom plate 31. 62a.
- the mountain-shaped reflector 62 has a longitudinal direction along the axial direction of the cold cathode tube 70 arranged in the light source arrangement region LA-1, and the light emitted from the cold cathode tube 70 is inclined by one angle.
- the surface 62a is directed toward the diffusion plate 450a.
- the inclined surface 62a of the mountain-shaped reflector 62 can reflect the emitted light from the cold cathode fluorescent lamp 70 toward the diffusion plate 450a, so that the emitted light can be used effectively.
- a light reflecting portion 50 having a white dot pattern is formed on the surface of the diffusion plate 450 a facing the cold cathode tube 70.
- This dot pattern is formed by printing a paste containing a metal oxide (titanium oxide or the like) excellent in light reflectivity on the surface of the diffusion plate 450a.

It is possible to make it difficult to form a dark place.
- the light reflectance of the light source overlapping part DA-1 in the diffusion plate 450a is relatively larger than the light reflectance of the light source non-overlapping part DN-1. According to such a configuration, the light emitted from the cold cathode tube 70 first reaches the light source overlapping portion DA-1 in the diffusion plate 450a. Since this light source overlapping portion DA-1 has a relatively high light reflectance, much of the light that has arrived is reflected (that is, not transmitted), and the amount of light emitted from the cold cathode tube 70 is reduced. Abstract
