Abstract

Lincomycin derivatives are produced by biotechnological cultivation of Streptomyces lincolnensis ATCC 25466 with at least one gene of the 4-L-propylproline biosynthesis coding cluster inactivated. A substitute of the component whose synthesis is blocked by inactivation is added to the medium. In this way new, biologically active lincomycin derivatives are produced biosynthetically.
