Abstract

Method, and plant thereof, for reducing the amount of surplus sludge produced in a wastewater treatment plant, the sludge comprises an organic matrix with a solid fraction and a cellular fraction; the method comprises : a) reducing the dimensions of the components of the solid and cellular fractions; and b) hydrolysis - at room temperature - of the components of the solid and cellular fractions having dimensions reduced in step a).
