Abstract

A method for the depolymerization of cellulose is claimed, wherein a solution made of cellulose is brought in contact with a solid acid catalyst in an ionic fluid and in a subsequent step, the depolymerized cellulose obtained in this way is subjected to enzymatic hydrolysis.
