Abstract

The invention relates in particular to a method for desulfurizing petroleum or crude oil. In order to improve the quality of the desulfurization and in conjunction therewith the quality of the petroleum after desulfurization, it is proposed that mesophilic, obligatorily chemolithotrophic microorganisms and/or at least one enzyme system of such microorganisms be used for the desulfurization.
