Description
HUMAN SHAPED WATER BAG
FIELD OF INVENTION
This invention is related to a human shaped water bag, manufactured to use in installations and trial tests in construction phase and also five yearly dynamic and static load tests of free fall life boats in maritime sector.
PRIOR ART
In the prior art, the load tests of free-fall lifeboats are achieved with sand bags or live test subjects.
In the prior art, for the effective results of installation and trial tests and also static and dynamic load tests of free fall life boats, these tests are held with real humans. Under current circumstances, free-fall lifeboats are tested with lower capacity than the required capacity, because of not obtaining enough volunteers to achieve the test. As a result, these free fall life boats are not guaranteed to work operationally and effectively in an urgent or emergency situation because of the insufficiently achieved dynamic and static tests.
Installation and trial tests and also static and dynamic load tests of free fall life boats, held with human test subjects also brings lots of problems. These tests engender personal injuries, handicaps or even deaths of test subject humans.
In the prior art, to avoid all of these problems, load tests are achieved with sand bags.
However, because of the shapes of the sandbags, they can not be positioned and fastened into the free-fall life boats uniformly. Nevertheless the achieved tests cause lots of time and work loss because of the time spent in storing, carrying and positioning the sand bags.
Also the center of gravity of the sand bags is not suitable for SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea), LSA (Life Saving Appliances) and IMO MSC: 1206. The center of gravity of the free fall life boats that are filled with sand bags are at a higher point than where they should be and as a result, does not suit the rules mentioned above.
In addition, since the density of sand is higher than the density of water and because of the problems of determining the center of gravity that are mentioned above, handicaps
like the easily overturning of the free-fall life boat and the lack of straighten ability of the boats are occurred in tests.
In several countries, the current installation and trial and also static and dynamic load tests techniques of free fall life boats are not adequate for SOLAS (saFety of life at the sea) and LSA (life saving applicances) regulations and also IMO MSC: 1206. Also in Turkey, these load tests are not adequate for Turkish Republic's Undersecretaries of Maritime Affairs
Disadvantages of human test subjects and sand bags are mentioned above. The purpose of this invention is to eliminate these disadvantages by using water bags instead of human test subjects or sand bags.
In prior art, the document numbered US 2007/ 0131043 Al concerns a model of human body manufactured to simulate human body in cars, amusement parks, also any vehicles with a sitting position.
The document US 2007/ 0131043, concerns a human body, which has separate parts that can be installed together and can be filled with different liquids also consists of different body parts. The model disclosed in the document has separate body parts which can be moved separately thru the joints.
This model does not have different size options in manufacturing phase, but the weight can be arranged according to the liquid amount and density inside of it.
In prior art, the document GB 1 492 891 A concerns a human body model, which has the closest characteristics to a human anatomy, is manufactured to be used in any tests to observe the outer effects to the human body. This model is a hydro-pneumatic system contains gaps to fill with air or water. And these gaps show lots of similarities with real human anatomy.
Unfortunately, the prior art is only designed to observe the outer effects to human body and does not provide any solution for the security and accurate results of the installation trial tests, also dynamic and static load tests of free fall life boats.,

Human shaped water bag (1) which is developed by this invention is, preferably has a sitting human shape. Human shaped water bag (1) has been manufactured with a solid sitting shaped human with fixed hips and knee parts to achive the weight distribution in free- falling life boats as close as the real situations according to the regulations mentioned above.
Human shaped water bag (1) is manufactured from Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) fabric. Since there are not any angled shapes except the filling/discharging valve (2)_and the air valve (3) and exterior PVC raw material, human shaped water bag (1) does not harm any parts of the free-fall life boat as it positioned inside during the tests.
The filling/discharging valve (2) can be positioned on left/right or front/back of the foot of human shaped water bag (1), according to sitting order during the tests.
The main parts of the human shaped water bag (1) are; human shaped water bag (1), filling/discharging valve (2), air valve (3), chest section (4), hip section (5), calf section (6), knee section (7) and leg section (8).
Human shaped water bag (1) is manufactured with 2 different capacities of 82,5 and 88 kilograms when filled with water. Also the water amount inside the Human shaped water bag (1) can be increased or decreased according to the necessity.
The air valve (3) positioned on the head of the human shaped water bag (1) is used for relieving the air inside the human shaped water bag (1) during the filling process. For optimum usage of the human shaped water bag (1), the air valve (3) should be positioned on top of the human shaped water bag (1). The filling process continues till sea water filled in the human shaped water bag through filling/discharging valve (2) leaks out of the air valve (3). By this means, the human shaped water bag (1) can be filled fully with sea water and ean-be-arranged to the demanded weight in tests. -
The sections in the human shaped water bag (1) avoid the undesired partial accumulation of the sea water on certain parts while being filled with sea water. But these sections can not be filled separately. For the preparation for the tests, the human shaped water bag (1) must be completely filled with sea water for the closest similarity of the weight and weight distribution to that of a real human's weight and weight distribution.
The filling process for the weighting of human shaped water bag (1) available for tests is made by pumping sea water thru the filling/discharging valve (2) inside the human shaped water bag (1). The sea water that is used for filling does not need any purification process. As a result human shaped water bag (1) can be filled easily in any circumstances using only a system that provides the necessary pressure to fill.
When the filling process begins, the following parts of the human shaped water bag (1) is filled with sea water respectively: leg section (8), knee section (7), calf section (6), hip section (5) and chest section (4).
When the process of filling complete thru the filling/discharging valve (2) it means that, with the help of the air valve (3) that relieves the air totally from inside, the human shaped water bag (1) is totally filled with sea water.
The capacities and as a result the sizes of the sections of the human shaped water bags (1) are designed according to the real human weight distribution. According to the real human's weighting parts and sections, the biggest capacity of the human shaped water bag (1) is chest section (4). The other biggest parts are calf section (8), hip section (5) and knee section (7), respectively.
Independent from the main sections of the human shaped water bag (1), there are forehead belt (9), chest belt (10), and knee belt (11).
These belts (9, 10 and 11) have a purpose for fastening the human shaped water bag (1) to the seat inside the free-fall life boat during the installation and trial tests and also dynamic and static load tests.
Forehead belt (9), chest belt (10) and knee belt (11) on human shaped water bag (1) can be used separately depending on the condition of the test.
After the 5 yearly dynamic and static load tests or installation and trial tests, human shaped water bag (1) allows the sea water inside to be discharged.
The-discharge process of the human^shaped water bag~(l)~is filling process and is accomplished with filling/discharging valve (2), positioned on foot section.
During the discharging process after the filling/discharging valve (2) is opened, the liquid inside the human shaped water bag (1) leaks out thanks to the gravitational force and the pressure of water inside. As an alternative to this method, a suction pump connected to the filling/discharging valve (2) can be used to discharge the sea water inside the human shaped water bag (1) completely.
After discharging all of the sea water inside, the human shaped water bag (1) can be folded down into a smaller shape. Being smaller thanks to the folding down and lighter because there is not any sea water inside, the human shaped water bag (1) can be stored and refilled easily for reutilization when needed.
The folding features of the human shaped water bag (1) after usage provides easiness about the usage, carriage and storage and again and fast filling/discharging provides advantage for users in not only to use of time efficiently, but also to decrease the unnecessary labor work, and as a result decreases the costs.
Around these main subjects human shaped water bag (1) developed by this invention can be developed into much different usage areas and can not be limited with the given examples above. The main request is written in claims.
