Abstract

An oxy/coal combustion system (102) and method include a furnace (104) arranged and disposed to receive and combust a first solid fuel (110) to form a combustion fluid(118), a convective section(106) having one or more inlet devices, the convective section arranged and disposed to receive and combust a second fuel (105) in the presence of the oxygen, and one or more heat exchangers (120) arranged and disposed to exchange heat with the combustion fluid (121).
