Abstract
Description
ランス112の前方に雌端子120を支持するハウジング壁を設ければ、雌端子120の上方への変位を防止できる。しかし、ランス112を形成する金型部品をランス112の前方に配置する必要があるので、ランス112の前方にハウジング壁を設けることは事実上不可能である。
さらに、自動車部品である雌コネクタ100には、小型化の要求がなされている。この要求に応えるために、雌コネクタ100を構成する部材であるランス112の寸法を小さくしなければならない。そうすると、ランス112の強度が低下し、雌端子120は上方に容易に変位してしまう。
本発明は、このような技術的課題に基づいてなされたもので、小型化されても、信号伝送用端子と短絡用端子とを安定して接触でき、加えて、信号伝送用端子の軸方向周りの回転を抑制できるコネクタを提供することを目的とする。
また、本発明のコネクタは、ランスが設けられた位置よりも窓が後方に設けられので、下方から信号伝送用端子を支持することのできる下支持壁を端子収容キャビティの前端に形成できる。したがって、信号伝送用端子は、端子収容キャビティの前端において、幅方向の両側面に加えて下面が支持されることにより、軸方向周りの回転が抑制される。
本実施形態は、自動車のエアバッグに適用されるコネクタに関するものである。
本実施の形態に係る雌コネクタ10は、コネクタ本体20と、コネクタ本体20が収容されるハウジング40とから構成される。雌コネクタ10は後述する雄コネクタ60と嵌合される。
雌コネクタ10に設けられる雌端子(信号伝送用端子)11は、エアバックユニットの機器側に接続され、雄コネクタ60に設けられる雄端子63は、衝撃センサ等の信号側に接続される。
また、サブハウジング21には、上面にガイド溝27が形成され、また、下面にガイド溝28、29が形成されている。ガイド溝27、28、29は、サブハウジング21の幅方向に沿って形成されている。
底板部13には、位置決め孔13a(図5参照)が形成されており、キャビティ24の底面に形成された位置決め突起31との嵌め合いによって、短絡用端子12はサブハウジング21に固定される。
ばね部15は、二股に分岐されている。したがって、1つの短絡用端子12は、2つの接点部16を有している。雌コネクタ10と雄コネクタ60とが分離している状態では、2つの接点部16が窓25を貫通して、対をなす2つの雌端子11の各々の下面に接触される。これにより、対をなす2つの雌端子11同士が短絡状態とされる。雌コネクタ10と雄コネクタ60とが嵌合している状態では、雄コネクタ60に形成された短絡解除突起62が、雌端子11の下面と接点部16との間に挿入され、接点部16を押下げることにより、短絡状態が解除される(図9参照)。
キャビティ41はハウジング40の幅方向の一方の側に開口を有しており、この開口からコネクタ本体20がキャビティ41に挿入される。また、ハウジング40の前端には、コネクタ本体20の雄端子導入口32に対応して、複数の雄端子導入口42が形成さている。雄コネクタ60が備える雄端子63は、雄端子導入口42、雄端子導入口32を通って、雌端子11と接続される。
(1)従来の雌コネクタ100において、弾性変形可能に形成されたランス112は、雌端子120に加わった上向きの力を十分に受け止めることができない。そうすると、雌端子120は上方に変位しやすい。したがって、短絡用端子と雌端子120との間の接触が不安定になる。
これに対して、図4に示されるように、本実施形態による雌コネクタ10は、短絡用端子12の曲げ部14が前方に配置され、短絡用端子12の接点部16がランス23よりも後方に配置されている。接点部16の上方にはキャビティ22を区画する上支持壁21aが形成されている。この上支持壁21aはランス23に比べて剛性が高いので、雌端子11が例えば短絡用端子12により上向きの力を受けたとしても、雌端子11は上方に変位しにくい。したがって、雌端子11と短絡用端子12との間の接触が安定する。その結果、対をなす雌端子11同士の短絡状態を安定して維持できる。
これに対して、本実施形態による雌コネクタ10は、ランス23が設けられた位置よりも後方に接点部16が設けられている。接点部16に対応する位置には接触凸部11bが存在しないから、当該位置における底板部13の下面は平坦である。したがって、本実施の形態に係る雌コネクタ10は、接点部16と雌端子11の間の接触面積を十分に得ることができるので、対をなす雌端子11同士の短絡状態を安定して維持できる。
これに対して本実施の形態による雌コネクタ10においては、サブハウジング21の前端に、雌端子11の下面を支持する下支持壁21b(図5参照)が存在する。したがって、サブハウジング21の前端において、雌端子11は、幅方向の両側面に加えて下面が支持されるので、軸方向回りに回転しにくく、大きく位置がずれることがない。よって、雄端子63と雌端子11との接続をスムーズに行うことができる。

Claims (5)
- 信号伝送用端子が係止される可撓性のランスが設けられた複数の端子収容キャビティと、前記端子収容キャビティに隣接する短絡用端子収容キャビティとを備えるハウジングと、
前記端子収容キャビティに収容される信号伝送用端子と、
前記短絡用端子収容キャビティに収容されるU字状の短絡用端子と、
を備える電気コネクタであって、
前記短絡用端子は、相手側電気コネクタとの嵌合方向の前方に曲げ部を有するとともに、前記嵌合方向の後方に接点部を有し、
前記ハウジングは、前記ランスよりも後方であって、前記短絡用端子の前記接点部に対応する位置に、前記端子収容キャビティと前記短絡用端子収容キャビティとを連通する窓を有すると共に、前記ランスの後方に前記位置に対応する位置に前記信号伝送用端子の上支持壁を有し、
前記短絡用端子の前記接点部は、前記窓を貫通して前記信号伝送用端子と接触されることを特徴とする電気コネクタ。 - 一次係止部材としての前記ランスとともに前記信号伝送用端子を係止する二次係止部材を備え、
前記二次係止部材は、
前記ハウジングに対して、前記ハウジングの幅方向に挿入され、
前記短絡用端子よりも後方において前記信号伝送用端子を係止することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電気コネクタ。 - 前記ハウジングは、前記端子収容キャビティの前端に前記信号伝送用端子を支持する下支持壁を有することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電気コネクタ。
- 前記上支持壁は、前記ランスよりも剛性が高いことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電気コネクタ。
- 前記短絡用端子は、前記曲げ部から後方に向けて延びるばね部を備え、前記ばね部は二股に分岐されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電気コネクタ。
