Description
SUPPORTING DEVICE FOR COVERING SLABS
The present invention relates to a supporting device for covering slabs, especially for interior application.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
In the technique there are several accessories and devices for the fixation or supporting of covering slabs in facades or walls, mainly consisting of a series of horizontal profiles that are fixed to the wall. These profiles include horizontal fastening means that allow the coupling and supporting of the covering slabs.
These devices have the disadvantage that it is sometimes difficult or impossible to regulate in height and in depth the position of the horizontal profiles at the time of the fixation to the wall, specially when the fixation of said horizontal profiles is made directly to the wall, without intermediate elements, such as vertical profiles fixed to the wall. The correct adjustment of the height of the position of the profiles is very important since it is essential that the said supporting profiles are well aligned along its entire length so that the covering slabs that will be mounted subsequently on the same are also perfectly adjusted.
Moreover, the correct adjustment of the depth of the position of the profiles is also very important to ensure that the fastening means of said profiles intended to support the covering slabs are arranged at the same plane, regardless the irregularities that are present on the surface of the wall, in order to obtain a completely flat and covered surface formed by said covering slabs.
Therefore, as can be seen from the above, there is a need for a supporting device for covering slabs, especially for interior use, whose attachment to the wall can be adjusted in height and in depth in a quick and easy way.
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The aim of the present invention is to overcome the disadvantages of the devices known in the art, providing a supporting device for wall covering slabs comprising horizontal elements that include attachment means to the wall and attachment means to the covering slabs, characterized in that it comprises at least one piece for adjusting the height position of the horizontal elements arranged in said horizontal elements and in cooperation with the attachment means to the wall, and at least one piece for adjusting the depth position of the horizontal elements arranged between these horizontal elements and the wall .
Thanks to these characteristics, a supporting device for covering slabs, which allows for the depth- and height- adjustment of the horizontal supporting elements or profiles at the time of its assembly on a wall, regardless of the irregularities present on the same, is obtained.
Thus, it is possible to obtain a perfect vertical, horizontal and in depth adjustment of all of the points of support of the covering slabs.
Preferably, the at least one piece for the height- adjustment includes a plate that has a slot inclined with respect to its longitudinal axis, said plate being located in a housing of each of said horizontal elements, said attachment means to the wall passing through the slot of said plate and at least one orifice in each one of said horizontal elements and said attachment means to the wall being able to be arranged alongside said slot.
Advantageously, the plate is housed in the housing unable to be vertically displaced with respect to the horizontal element.
Also advantageously, the plate is horizontally displaceable alongside said housing.
According to the present invention, the at least one orifice in each of said horizontal elements has an elongated vertical shape.
Thanks to said plate or plates, the height-adjustment of the fixing position of the supporting profiles occurs in
an easy and quick manner. In order to raise or lower the position of the profile or profiles it is necessary just to move the plate sideways in one direction or another one before attaching the profile or profiles permanently to the wall.
Preferably, the at least one piece for the depth- adjustment comprises a sheet arranged between each of the horizontal elements and the wall.
Advantageously, the sheet includes an opening for the passing the attachment means to the wall through it.
According to an embodiment of the present invention, the opening of the sheet includes a vertical slot.
According to other advantageous embodiment of the present invention, the sheet includes fitting means for arranging at least two sheets adjacent one another.
Preferably, the fitting means include ribs with complementary profile on the surface of the sheet.
Said sheet or sheets allow for the depth-adjustment of the fixing position of the profile or profiles in a simple and quick way, by adding or removing the number of necessary sheets according to the magnitude of the irregularities present on the wall before definitively attaching the profile to the wall.
Also preferably, the attachment means to the wall include at least one bolt and a corresponding nut.
According to the present invention, the attachment means to the covering slabs comprise at least one end, which can be coupled to a slot that is present on the upper and lower edges of the covering slabs. Preferably, the at least one end and the slot of the upper slot of the covering slabs include a configuration that allows for the vertical displacement and the pivoting with respect to said at least one end of said covering slabs before the coupling/uncoupling between at least one lower end and the slot on the lower edge of said covering slabs .

DESCRIPTION OF A PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
In Figures 1 and 2 a horizontal supporting profile 1 intended to support covering slabs on walls can be seen. In the represented embodiment, the profile 1 includes an elongated body with a L-shaped section having a tubular and rectangular part at its central area. The profile 1 also includes a rear side 2 that will be arranged faced to a wall and a T-shaped end 3 opposed to the said rear side 2 for its coupling to the covering slabs. The profile 1 further has a longitudinal housing or slot 4, which is defined by an upper longitudinal flange 4a and by a lower longitudinal wall 4b, and which function will be explained below.
The profile 1 has several orifices 5 (in the figures only one is shown) , which pass through its back side 2 and are separated one another in the longitudinal direction of the said profile 1 by a determined distance, for example, 500 mm. Said orifices 5 have an elongated shape in the vertical direction, and serve to fix the profile 1 to the wall, as it will be explained below.
A plate 6, which serves to adjust the vertical position of the profile 1 when the same is attached to a wall, is shown in figures 3 and 4. In the present embodiment, the plate 6 has a rectangular shape, and comprises a slot 7 along its thickness and extending at its centre in a slightly inclined way with respect to the longitudinal axis of the said plate 6. A panel or sheet 8, that serves to adjust the depth of the position of the profile 1 when the same is attached to the wall, is shown in figures 5 to 7. In the present embodiment, the sheet 8 includes a body having a small thickness, for example, approximately 1 mm, and having a rectangular shape in a plan view, that includes a slot or housing 9 extending from one of its smaller side up to beyond the centre of said sheet 8. The sheet 8 also comprises at its top a pair of ribs or beads 10 located on the surface (see figure 7) whose function is to facilitate the fit or arrangement of several of said sheets 8 adjacent one another.
Figures 8 to 11 show the operation of the supporting device 11 of the present invention comprising the above described elements. The profile 1 is arranged with its back side 2 facing a wall 12.
As it can be seen, the plate 6 is arranged in the housing 4 of the said profile 1, in a parallel way with respect to the wall 12, and the sheet 8 is arranged between the back side 2 of the profile 1 and the wall 12.
The housing 4 has approximately the same height as the height of the plate 6 so that when said plate 6 is housed in its interior it can not move vertically with respect to
the profile 1, since the upper flange 4a and the lower wall 4b prevent its movement in that direction. Nevertheless, the plate 6 can move horizontally or longitudinally inside said housing 4. The sheet 8 is arranged with the lower opening of its slot 9 facing downwards, and with its upper end protruding towards the top of the profile 1.
The profile 1, the plate 6 and the sheet 8 are assembled in such a way that the orifice 5, the slot 7 and the slot 9 of the said elements, respectively, are aligned with each other to allow the passage of a fixing bolt 13 through them. This bolt 13 serves to attach the profile 1 to the wall 12, and is secured to the wall 12 at one of its ends and is screwed to a nut 14 for retaining its other end. Thus, as it can be seen, the profile 1, the plate 6 and the sheet 8 are retained between the wall 12 and the nut 14 and the screw 13 passes through them.
The following explains the procedure for the height- adjustment of the fixing position of the profile 1. In figures 8 to 11, the bolt 13 is secured to the wall 12 and perpendicularly passes through the slot 7 of the plate 6. More in detail, in figures 8 and 10, the bolt 13 is situated at the right end of the said slot 7.
As explained above, the plate 6 is arranged in the longitudinal housing 4 of the profile 1 so that it can move horizontally, but not vertically, with respect to the same.
In this way, before finally tightening the nut 14, the plate 6 can move horizontally with respect to the bolt 13 and the profile 1. By moving the plate 6 to the right, as shown in Figures 9 and 11, the bolt 13, which is fixed to the wall 12, force the plate 6 to move up, thanks to the inclination of the slot 7, which surrounds it. Thus, the plate 6 rests on the upper flange 4a and also causes the profile 1 to move up. The elongated vertical shape of the orifice 5 of the profile 1 prevents the profile 1 from moving horizontally with respect to the bolt 13, but allows for it to move vertically. The height of the orifice 5 coincides with the
difference in height between the two ends of the slot 7 of the plate 6.
The sheet 8 provided between the profile 1 and the wall 12 will also move upwards together with the said profile 1, thanks to the slot 9 that allows for the vertical displacement of the sheet 8 with respect to the bolt 13 passing through it.
In this way, the vertical fixing position of the profile 1 is adjusted by means of the simple horizontal displacement of the plate 6. Obviously, to lower the position of the profile 1 it would just be necessary to repeat the above explained process, but moving the plate 6 in the opposite direction.
Once the desired vertical position of the profile 1 is obtained, the nut 14 is tightened and all the elements are then fixed at their definitive position.
The following explains the procedure for adjusting the depth of the fixing position of the profile 1.
As explained before, the device 11 of the present invention includes at least one sheet 8 provided between the profile 1 and the wall 12.
The function of said sheet 8 is to compensate the irregularities that are present on the surface of the wall
12 to which the supporting profiles 1 for the covering slabs will be attached. In this way, depending on the depth or magnitude of said irregularities, it will be necessary to place a certain number of sheets 8 adjacent to one another. That is, the greater the irregularities, the greater the number of sheets 8 to be assembled between the profile 1 and the wall 12.
As explained above, the sheet 8 is designed to be arranged adjacent alongside other sheets. In this way, for example, if an area of the wall 12 corresponding to a first fixing point of the profile 1 is 3 mm deeper that an area of the wall 12 corresponding to another fixing point, 3 sheets of 1 mm each will be provided in said first point to compensate said difference, so that the profile or profiles 1 will be perfectly adjusted and on the same plane.
Thanks to the lower opening of the slot 9, the sheet or sheets 8 can be assembled between the profile 1 and the wall 12 from above, with the bolt 13 already secured to the wall and without dismantling the profile 1 with respect to the bolt 13, thus facilitating their positioning. Likewise, the ribs or beads 10 allow for obtaining a fit or coupling effect that facilitates the correct positioning of several sheets 8 adjacent to one another.
For purposes of clarity, only one sheet 8 between the profile 1 and the wall 12 has been represented in the figures .
As it has been observed, the device 11 of the present invention allows for obtaining a quick and simple depth and height-adjustment of the fixing position of the supporting profiles 1.
An operator can adjust the height of the position of the profile 1 by the simple displacement of the plate 6, so precisely and without having to bear the weight of the entire body before tightening the nut 13 and attaching the profile 1 definitively.
Likewise, thanks to the sheet or sheets 8, an operator can easily adjust the depth of the position of the profile 1, by adding or removing the required number of sheets 8 to obtain a correct position. The profile 1, the plate 6 and the sheet 8 will be preferably made in aluminium, although the sheet 8 may also be made in a plastic material, e.g. polyethylene.
The supporting device 11 according to the present invention is specially indicated for being used in the installation of interior covering slabs, such as such as in bathrooms or kitchens.
Finally, in figures 12 to 18 an embodiment of the supporting device 11 of the present invention can be seen, comprising several horizontal profiles 1 attached to a wall 12, arranged in parallel and vertically separated. Said profiles 1 support a plurality of covering slabs 15.
The covering slabs 15 are fixed to the T-shaped ends 3 of the profiles 1 by means of slots 16 arranged on their
upper and lower edges, which are coupled to them (figure 12) . The upper slot 16 is attached to the end 3 of an upper profile 1, and the lower slot 16 is attached to the end 3 of a lower profile 1. The slots 16 and the ends 3 are configured so that the slabs 15 can be disassembled by moving them upwards (figure 13), so that the end 3 of the lower profile 1 is removed from the slot 16 of the lower edge of the slab 15. Then, the slab 15 pivots with respect to the end 3 of the upper profile 1, offside, (figures 14 to 16) and it is removed by removing the said end 3 of the upper profile 1 of the slot 16 from the upper edge of the slab 15 (figures 17 and 18) .
To perform the procedure for assembling the slabs 15 on the profile 1, it is just necessary to follow the disclosed process in a reversed order.
Reference is made to the publication of the Spanish Patent ES 2 303 439 Al, wherein a detailed description of this system of fixation of the slabs 15 to the profile 1 can be found. It should be noted that, for simplicity of description, the profile 1 of the device 11 of the present invention has been represented with a determined section, although it could have any other different section, as in the case of profiles 1 that are placed on the upper and lower ends of the covering made of slabs 15.
