The present invention relates to a sleeve cover for a storage container for example for use in storing documents such as bank notes, cheques or other documents of value. More particularly, within the banking industry, such containers are, for example, replaceable banknote cassettes which form part of a money handling device or banknote-dispensing equipment.
Depending on the amount of money that the banknote dispensing equipment can contain, the banknote cassettes can be provided with shutter to provide a secure container or can be a box having an open side through which a stack of banknotes is loaded. In this latter type of known cassettes, stacks of banknotes are held in place by means of a packer plate or pusher plate slidable along the length of the container and spring-biased so as to compress the stack against an end wall. With such a construction, it is desirable to cover the cassette during its handling so as to avoid banknotes from falling out the cassette but also to hide the stack of banknotes from view, in particular, when transported across public area. It is also desirable that the cover can be adequately secured to the cassette it is meant to hide and protect.
It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a reusable cover for a banknote cassette used for loading banknotes into a banknote dispenser that can be securely attached to the cassette.

The invention will now be described by way of examples with reference to the accompanying drawings of which: -
Fig.1 is a perspective view of a banknote cassette and a cover in accordance with the present invention;
Fig.2 is an end view of a cover constructed in accordance with the present invention,
Fig.3 is a plan view of a blank for a cover according to the present invention, and
Fig.4 is a plan view of a blank for a cover according to an alternative of the present invention.
Referring to Figure 1 , there is shown a banknote cassette 10 and a cover 20 according to the present invention. The banknote cassette 10, in a known manner, is made of ferromagnetic material, such as steel material and has a box-shaped form having an opening 11 through which a stack of banknotes is loaded. The cassette 10 comprises a bottom wall panel 12, two opposite side wall panels 13, 14 extending from the bottom wall panel 12 and two end walls respectively a top end wall panel 15 and a bottom end wall panel 16 when the cassette is carried. The top end wall 15 is further provided with a handle 17 for transporting the cassette 10. The interior of the cassette 10 comprises a spring- biased pusher plate 18 slidable along the length of the cassette 10 so as to compress the stack against the top end wall panel 15.
The cover 20 for the banknote cassette 10 consists of a hollow rectangular tubular sleeve or body. The sleeve cover 20 comprises a front or first panel 21 , a back or second panel 22 and connecting side walls panels 23, 24. The sleeve 20 is made by folding and gluing a single flat blank manufactured by cutting and creasing from a sheet material such as plastic or cardboard, as can be seen in FIG. 3. T0014-00188
-5-
Referring now to Figures 2 and 3, there is shown one embodiment of a blank for a sleeve cover 20 according to the invention, having a connecting panel 24 (which forms a side panel when the sleeve is formed) between the first panel 21 and the second panel 22 and two opposite ends panel 23, 25. When the blank is erected into a sleeve cover 20, the front panel 21 is first folded into a position parallel to but spaced from the back panel 22 then the two opposite ends 23, 25 are folded in such a way that one of these two opposite ends 23 or side wall panels is bonded to the outer surface of the other end panel 25.
The blank further comprises at one edge of either the first 21 or second panel 22, in this example in use the back panel 22, a flap 26. The flap 26 has a width approximately less or equal to half the width of the connecting side walls 23, 24. The flap 26 is provided with a detachable fastening means 27 which in this example is a long, thin, continuous magnetic strip bonded to the length of the inner surface of the flap 26 which is arranged in such a way that in use, i.e. when the cassette is inserted into the sleeve cover 20, the flap is folded so that the magnetic strip 50 is releasably secured to the bottom end wall 16 of the cassette 10, which as explained, is made of or is provided with a cooperating material, for example in this case a ferromagnetic material, e.g. steel. Alternatively, the cooperative material could be a magnetic strip arranged in such a way that it can be magnetically retained against the magnetic strip of the sleeve.
In an alternative, the magnetic strip 27 can be provided in blocks or short segments which are located in a strategic location, such as the middle of the flap or the corners of the flap 26.
In another alternative not shown, the back panel 22 and the front panel 22 are both provided at one of their edges with a flap. Each of these flaps having a width which is less than the width of the connecting side walls 23, 24 and at least one magnetic strip secured to the inner surface of the corresponding flap so as to releasably hold the cover to the T0014-00188
-6- banknote cassette by releasably securing each of these flaps to the ferromagnetic bottom panel of the cassette 10.
In a further alternative shown in Fig.4, the connecting side panel 24 and one of the end panels 25 of the blank which also form a connecting side panel are extended by preferably a trapezoidal flap 30, 31. Each of these flaps 30, 31 has a detachable fastening means 27 secured to the inner surface of each flap, in the form of a block of short magnetic segment 32. Alternatively, it may be possible to provide the blank with only one trapezoidal flap dimensioned in such a way that the sleeve cover is retained to the banknote cassette during its transport.
The sleeve and the blank as described herein have the advantages of offering a simple reusable cover for a banknote cassette which is also easy to be folded when not used by the fact that the cover does not have a bottom panel but only at least one foldable flap. Furthermore, the sleeve cover can be easily secured to the cassette thanks to the magnetic strip. Additionally, a user can ease the insertion or extraction of the sleeve cover from the cassette by using the flap.
Although the blank as described in the examples herein has the two opposite ends secured together by glue, it will be appreciated that alternative construction or modification to the way the opposite ends of the blank are secured is possible without departing from the scope of the invention.
Furthermore, in a modification, it will be appreciated that the releasable fastening means could be replaced by a ferromagnetic material member arranged on the sleeve in such a way that in use this ferromagnetic member is connected to a magnet provided on the cassette. Such a magnet could advantageously be used to trigger a reed switch for presence or denomination indication when the cassette is in use in the handling device. T0014-00188
-7-
This magnet could be located at end panel of the cassette requiring the sleeve to be provided with a flap having a ferromagnetic member.
