Abstract
Disclosed herein is an organic body oil composition comprising extracts of organically certified herbs and organic essential oils, wherein the extract is prepared by employing super critical fluid extraction.
Description
ORGANIC BODY OIL COMPOSITIONS AND METHOD THEREOF
Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a composition of an organic body oil and the method of preparing the same. In particular, the present invention provides an organic body oil composition comprising extracts of organically certified herbs and organic essential oils, wherein the extract is prepared employing a super critical fluid extraction.
Background of the Invention
Generally massage oils contain liquid paraffin, which are derived from nonrenewable petroleum sources. Due to the low cost and wide availability, these ingredients are used liberally in majority of the non-aqueous products. Even though the products made with this oil have a good feel on the skin, they are devoid of any concrete effects owing to their hydrocarbon composition.
Some products are available containing vegetable oils and are obtained through the conventional method of agriculture. The drawback of using vegetable oils is that they are different from organic oils, since they may be contaminated with pesticides and heavy metals apart from other environmental pollutants, It is therefore important for personal care and cosmetic industries to develop products that contain 1-00% natural ingredients and that can be used on a daily basis by human beings of all age groups.
Related arts U.S. Patent No. 7344738 by Managoli discloses a pharmaceutical or medicinal preparation comprising a combination of two herbal compositions to be administered together. The herbal composition comprises a mixture of active ingredients that has been extracted from herbs or chemically synthesized. The herbal preparation is used as an immunostimulant, an adaptogen, an antioxidant, an anxiolytic agent, an anti- stress agent, and an anti-tumor agent.
Patent application no. WO2002085394A1 by Khamar et al. reveals a process of preparing the topical anti-inflammatory and analgesic preparation comprising herbal ingredients. Cissus qitadragularis and Costiis specious are the essential herbs
used in the synergistic compositions. The other herbal ingredients used optionally in the process are Terminalia chebula, Terminalia bellerica, Emblica officinalis, Melia azadirachta, Vitex mgundo, Commiphora mukid. The synergistic composition is in the form of oil, ointment, gel or spray. Summary of the Invention
It is a principal object of the present invention to provide an organic body oil composition comprising extracts of organically certified herbs and organic essential oils, wherein the said composition is devoid of any chemical contaminations. It is another object of the present invention to provide an organic body oil composition comprising extracts of organically certified herbs and organic essential oils, wherein the said composition is the purest and provides superior skin benefits.
Further the object is to provide a method of preparing an organic body oil composition comprising extracts of organically certified herbs and organic essential oils, wherein the said method is devoid of using any solvent.
The above and the other objects of the present invention are attended according to following preferred embodiments of the present invention, however the scope of the invention is not restricted to the particular embodiment.
In accordance with one embodiment of the present invention, there is provided an organic body oil composition comprising extracts of organically certified herbs and organic essential oils, wherein the extract is prepared by employing a super critical fluid extraction.
In accordance with another embodiment of the present invention, there is provided an organic body oil composition, wherein the extract of herbs is obtained from a blend of herbs selected from Withania somnifera , Sida cordifolia , Riibia cordifolia, Terminalia chebula , Terminalia bellerica and Phyllanthus emblica.
In accordance with another embodiment of the present invention, there is provided an organic body oil composition, wherein the blend of herbs is used in the range of 0.01% to 0.5%. Preferably the blend used is in the range of 0.01% to 0.2%. In accordance with one other embodiment of the present invention, there is provided an organic body oil composition, wherein the organic essential oils are used in the range of 0.1 % to 5%.
In accordance with another embodiment of the present invention, there is provided an organic body oil composition, wherein the composition is formulated in various types of organic body oil such as anti-stress massage oil, rejuvenating massage oil. In accordance with another embodiment of the present invention, there is provided an organic body oil composition, wherein the anti-stress massage oil comprises a blend of herbs Withania somnifera, Sida cordifolia, Rubia cordifolia, Terminalia chebiila, Terminalia bellerica and Phyllanthns emblica and essential oils selected from Abelmoschns moschatus, Lavandula latifolia and Rosmarinus officinalis or in combination thereof.
In accordance with another embodiment of the present invention, there is provided an organic body oil composition, wherein the rejuvenating massage oil comprises a blend of essential oils Prunus amygdalus, Mentha piperita, Mentha viridis, Citrus medica limonum, Origanum Majorana and Pogostemon Cablin. In accordance with another embodiment of the present invention, there is provided an organic body oil composition, wherein said composition is prepared by a method comprises of blending the organically certified herbs and extracting the resultant herbs employing super critical fluid extraction (SCFE), mixing the resultant extract of blend with organic essential oils. Description of the Invention
While this specification concludes with claims particularly pointing out and distinctly claiming that, which is regarded as the invention, it is anticipated that the invention can be more readily understood through reading the following detailed description of the invention and study of the included examples.
The present invention describes the preparation of certified organic oils for body massage. The body massage oils employ organically certified essential oils, fixed oils and super critical fluid extracts of herbal actives. The organic vegetable oils selected from oils of Indian origin like seasame, coconut, sunflower etc. The present invention provides compositions of organic body oils comprising extracts of herbs of Withania somnifera, Sida cordifolia, Rubia cordifolia, Terminalia
chebula, Terminalia bellerica and Phyllanthus emblica and essential oils. Further, the method of preparing the composition is also disclosed according to present invention. According to the present invention, wherein the said extract of herbs can be prepared using any parts of herbs, preferably whole plant parts of Sida cordifolia, preferably roots of Withania somnifera, and Ruhia cordifolia, fruits of Terminalia chebula, Terminalia bellerica and Phyllanthus emblica.
According to the present invention, wherein the essential oil is selected from Abelmoschus moschatus, Lavandula latifolia, Rosmarinus officinalis, Prunus amygdalus, Mentha piperita, Mentha viridis, Citrus medica limonum, Origanum Major ana, Pogostemon cablin or a combination thereof.
According to the present invention, wherein the organic essential oils are obtained by cold press method.
The following non-limiting examples illustrate in details about the invention. However, they are, not intended to be limiting the scope of present invention in any way.
Example- 1 Preparation of Phase A of Example- 1 ( Antistress massage oiD
Preparation of the extract from herbal blend by Super Critical Fluid by extraction method: The shade dried material of herbal blend of roots of Withania somnifera, whole parts of Sida cordifolia, roots of Rubia cordifolia fruits of Terminalia chebula, fruits of Terminalia bellerica, fruits of Phyllanthus emblica in the ratio of 15:60:5:6.66:6.66:6.66 respectively was pulverized to coarse powder and about 100kg of powdered herbal blend was placed in a SCF extractor at the temperature of 40 - 5OC at high pressure of 300 - 350 bar using carbon dioxide as a super critical fluid for extraction upto 4 to 6 hours and then the extract was collected in the collection vessel and evaporated at room temperature to remove any further residues of carbon dioxide. The extract thus obtained was from any solvent residues and in highest pure form. The ready extract (wt - 1.25 g) was mixed in organic sesame oil wt - 98.75 to yield Phase A.

Example-3 Method of Manufacturing of Anti Stress Oil
1. Weigh and take Phase A in a clean dry mixing vessel and make a uniform solution. If required warm.
2. Add Vitamin E. Mix till homogenous. Ensure that the extract is completely dissolved.
3. Add Phase C to the main mixing vessel. Mix for 10 Minutes
4. Filter the product through stainless steel mesh #100
Example-4 Clinical evaluation of Organic Stress Massage Oil:
A clinical evaluation (in house) of Organic Stress Massage Oil was carried out during 09.09.2008 and 20.09.2008 in 10 subjects, after obtaining their informed consent.
Following parameters were evaluated on a visual Analogue scale of 0-3. (0- Poor, 1 -Average, 2-Good, 3-Excellent),
1. Appearance.
2. Fragrance on application. 3. Ease of application.
4. Spread ability of the product.
5. Feel after application.
6. Absoiption.
7. Skin moisturizing. 8. Muscle relaxation.
9. Feeling of stress relief.
10. Overall likeability. Results:
1. All the 10 subjects completed the study protocol and none of them withdrew from the study.
2. Subject's compliance was very good.
3. None of the subjects exhibited any adverse effects during the study period. Evaluation of the clinical parameters is as in Table- 1 :

Observation:
The test medication Organic Stress Massage Oil is safe and efficacious.
Example-5 Rejuvenating Massage Oil
1. Add Sesame Oil in the main mixing vessel.
2. Add Sweet Almond Oil, Olive Oil and Coconut Oil with continuous mixing. 3. Add Phase B and Vitamin E. Mix 15 minutes.
4. Filter the product through stainless steel mesh #100.
Example-7 Clinical evaluation of Organic Rejuvenating Massage Oil:
Clinical trial to evaluate the safety and efficacy of Organic Rejuvenating massage oil: The study was conducted at Shubhdeep Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital Indore, (MP), India. Introduction:
Body aches and muscle pain are common clinical problems faced by people owing to everyday stress and strain. This may also lead to a feeling of inhibition or depression in mood. These patients generally resort to over-the-counter medications like pain balms or massage oils to invigorate their skeletal symptoms and to improve their well-being.
This clinical trial was conducted to assess the safety and efficacy of Organic Rejuvenating Massage Oil in 10 patients suffering from non-specific complaints like body ache and muscle pain. Inclusion criteria:
Adult patients of both the sexes suffering from non-specific body aches Age - 18 to 60 years
Patients who agree to sign the infonned consent Exclusion criteria:
Children Pregnancy
Lactation
Renal and hepatic failure
Known allergies to any medication
Ten patients who were in the age group of 18 to 65 years with complaints of body ache and muscle pain and who met the inclusion criteria were selected for this study. The demographic characteristics of the patients enrolled are depicted in Table-
3.

All the patients who entered the study were advised to use Organic
Rejuvenating Massage Oil twice a day and were instructed to apply this massage oil all over the body with gentle rubefacient activity. They were advised to apply the oil till there was mild reddening of the skin. This application was continued for a period of 1 week. This study was conducted in the month of September 2008. Observations and results:
All the 10 patients completed the study and none of the patients showed any dermatological reaction on application of Organic Rejuvenating Massage Oil. The patients were asked to give their opinion on parameters like appearance, perfume impact, ease of application, fragrance, absorption, and feel after application. The results were as follows in Table-5
Discussion:
Muscle pain and body ache are very common complaints inviting a simple solution without any drug intake. Most patients prefer local application of medication so that adverse effects of the same are minimal. The present study indicates that Organic Rejuvenating Massage Oil is a safe and effective local applicant which has been accepted and liked by patients in pain. This massage oil did not exhibit any adverse effects. Hence this product can be used for rejuvenating the body and mind of people suffering from common ailments.
Conclusion:
The Organic Rejuvenating Massage Oil appears to be an effective and safe herbal formulation which can be used for simple body massage to achieve a rejuvenating effect.
While this invention has been described in detail with reference to certain preferred embodiments, it should be appreciated that the present invention is not limited to those precise embodiments. Rather, in view of the present disclosure, which describes the current best mode for practicing the invention, many modifications and
variations would present themselves to those skilled in the art, without departing from the scope and spirit of this invention.
Claims
1. An organic body oil composition comprising extracts of organically certified herbs and organic essential oils, wherein the extract is prepared employing a super critical fluid extraction.
2. The composition according to claim 1 , wherein the extract of herbs is obtained from a blend of herbs selected from Withania somnifera, Sida cordifoUa , Rubia cordifolia, Terminalia chebula , Terminalia bellerica and Phyllantlws embilica.
3. The composition according to claim 1, wherein the essential oil is selected from Abelmoschns moschotus, Lavandula latifolia, Rosmarinus officinalis,
Primus amygdalus, Mentha piperita, Mentha viridis, Citrus medica limonum, Origanum majorana, Pogostemon cablin or a combination thereof.
4. The composition according to claim 1, wherein the organic essential oils are obtained by cold press method. 5. The composition according to claim 2, wherein the blend is used in the range of 0.01% to 0.

6. The composition according to claim 5, wherein the blend is used in the range of 0.01% to 0.2%.
7. The composition according to claim 3, wherein the organic essential oils are used in the range of 0.1% to 5%.
8. The composition according to claim 1, wherein the composition is formulated in various types of organic body oils.
9. The composition according to claim 8, wherein the organic body oil is an anti-stress massage oil/ rejuvenating massage oil.
10. The composition according to claim 9, wherein the anti-stress massage oil comprises a blend of herbs selected from Withania somnifera, Sida cordifolia, Rubia cordifolia, Terminalia chebula, Terminalia bellerica and Phyllanthus emblica and the essential oils are selected from Abelmoschus moschatus, Lavandula latifolia and Rosmarinus officinalis and in combination thereof.

The composition according to claim 1 , wherein the said composition is prepared by a method comprising blending the organically certified herbs and extracting the resultant herbs employing super critical fluid extraction (SCFE), mixing the resultant extract of blend with organic essential oils.
