Abstract

A composition comprising rubber, sulphur, steel cord bonding agent, steel cord adhesion promoting accelerator, characterized in that the said composition is vulcanized by incorporating said accelerator selected from a group of 4 - substituted 2- benzothiazole sulfenamides of the general formula I, wherein R1 and R2 can be the same or different and each denote hydrogen, halogen, nitro, hydroxy, C1-C12 alkyl or alkoxyl or aralkyl, R3 and R4 can be the same or different and each denote hydrogen, C1-C12 (cyclo) alkyl or alkoxyl or aralkyl, or R3 and R4 can form a ring, optionally substituted with O, Si, S, and P, for the replacement of DCBS accelerator in steel cord / steel wire skim (wire coating) compound.
