Abstract

La présente invention concerne un procédé de traitement d'hydrocarbures récupérés d'une formation souterraine, lequel consiste à introduire un courant comprenant de l'eau, du sable et des hydrocarbures lourds produits par la formation souterraine dans une cuve de séparation, chauffer simultanément les composants du courant dans ladite cuve à une température élevée pour réduire la viscosité des hydrocarbures lourds, séparer le sable, les hydrocarbures lourds et l'eau pour former une fraction aqueuse, une fraction d'hydrocarbures et une fraction de sable comprenant du sable et de l'eau et/ou des hydrocarbures lourds, récupérer la fraction aqueuse, récupérer la fraction d'hydrocarbures, et retirer la fraction de sable de la cuve de séparation. L'invention concerne également un appareil permettant de mettre en œuvre ledit procédé.
