Abstract

La présente invention concerne une composition chimique aqueuse et gélifiée ignifuge conçue précisément pour retarder le de déclenchement de la combustion dans des conditions favorables aux incendies. La composition décrite dans cette invention se caractérise en ce qu'elle comprend au moins un agent extincteur de flammes soluble dans l'eau, au moins un agent expansible soluble dans l'eau et au moins un agent formateur de complexes soluble dans l'eau, en plus de la solution aqueuse de la composition et, éventuellement, un agent de carbonisation soluble dans l'eau. La solution ainsi obtenue est appliquée en couche mince sur la surface du matériau à protéger et dont l'absorption dépend du type de matériau; une fois le produit absorbé, le matériau sur lequel est appliquée la solution peut être exposé à une source de chaleur pendant 30 minutes à une heure, en fonction du matériau concerné, avant le début de la combustion.
