- the experimental phase was initiated with a low percentage of the flame retardant agent, initially including only ammonium hydrophosphate, however and after chemical analysis of said composition and a trial and error process, the decision was made to include in the formula the diamonium hydrophosphate. Bliss combination resulted in a much more effective and efficient flame retardant.
- the swelling agent it was decided to use urea at first, since when exposed to heat, nitrogen gas is released which creates an inert layer to the fire, also protecting the treated material from fire.
- the percentage of swelling agent to be used was also varied in terms of the molar of the final formula to arrive at the preferable combination between swelling agent and fire retardant agent. Upon reaching the ideal combination between said agents, a complexing agent was also added to shape the final product.

Abstract
La présente invention concerne une composition chimique aqueuse et gélifiée ignifuge conçue précisément pour retarder le de déclenchement de la combustion dans des conditions favorables aux incendies. La composition décrite dans cette invention se caractérise en ce qu'elle comprend au moins un agent extincteur de flammes soluble dans l'eau, au moins un agent expansible soluble dans l'eau et au moins un agent formateur de complexes soluble dans l'eau, en plus de la solution aqueuse de la composition et, éventuellement, un agent de carbonisation soluble dans l'eau. La solution ainsi obtenue est appliquée en couche mince sur la surface du matériau à protéger et dont l'absorption dépend du type de matériau; une fois le produit absorbé, le matériau sur lequel est appliquée la solution peut être exposé à une source de chaleur pendant 30 minutes à une heure, en fonction du matériau concerné, avant le début de la combustion.
