Definitions
- the present invention relates, in general, to an apparatus for discharging phytoncide and, more particularly, to a phytoncide discharging apparatus, which is capable of discharging phytoncide even though power is not supplied to the apparatus.
- Phytoncide is an aromatic material which is emitted from trees so as to protect themselves from various harmful insects or bacteria and contains sterilizing and insect killing elements. Phytoncide is mainly composed of a terpene-based organic compound. It is known that phytoncide has the functions of antibacterial action, sedation, deodorization, stress elimination, etc. The result of research into phytoncide has shown that the concentration of the stress hormone Cortisol is dramatically reduced when a person inhales phytoncide. Further, it is known that an offensive odor is not emitted because of phytoncide, even though the carcasses of dead animals are decomposing in woods.
- phytoncide sedates a central nervous system, thus causing people to feel pleasant, lengthening a sleeping period, and aiding in having a comfortable sleep. Furthermore, it has been reported that phytoncide improves a blood circulation system, so that it is efficacious against hyperlipidemia and thrombosis- related heart failure, and has a strong antibacterial action to which the body develops no tolerance. Phytoncide is a natural substance which is effective in removing house dust mites up to almost 90%. Therefore phytoncide is highly effective in preventing allergic diseases without side effects.
- a phytoncide discharging apparatus has come onto the market so that people can experience the usefulness of phytoncide when indoors.
- the conventional phytoncide discharging apparatus is operated in the same principle as that of a general ultrasonic humidifier. That is, an ultrasonic oscillator such as a piezoelectric ceramic is installed to the bottom in a phytoncide dilute solution. When the oscillator generates ultrasonic waves, the phytoncide dilute solution is spattered in the form of fine particles and sprayed on the air.
- an ultrasonic oscillator such as a piezoelectric ceramic
- the conventional phytoncide discharging apparatus has a drawback in that it does not have functions other than that of supplying phytoncide to the air in a room. Disclosure of Invention Technical Problem
- an object of the present invention is to provide a phytoncide discharging apparatus, which discharges phytoncide without supplying power to the apparatus, and forms air bubbles containing phytoncide when a user takes a bath in a tub, in addition to the function of supplying phytoncide to the air in a room.
- the present invention provides an apparatus for discharging phytoncide, comprising:
- a housing which is made of a tree giving off phytoncide and has at a predetermined position a discharge hole to discharge phytoncide;
- a blower which is installed in the housing, and includes a suction hole for drawing phytoncide and a fan rotating in a direction of the discharge hole so that phytoncide drawn into the suction hole is discharged through the discharge hole;
- a door provided on a surface of the housing to open or close the housing.
- An air bubble pipe connected to a bathtub is coupled to the discharge hole of the housing, thus supplying air containing phytoncide generated in the housing to the bathtub.
- the interior of the housing stores a phytoncide generating substance including phytoncide oil and a phytoncide-generating leaf.
- a support packing may be provided on the bottom of the housing.
- the blower may be connected to a power cable held in the housing, and the door may have in a surface thereof a cable outlet so that the power cable is pulled out through the cable outlet.
- a phytoncide discharging apparatus is advantageous in that a housing is made of a tree giving off phytoncide, so that the phytoncide is discharged to a room even though power is not supplied to the apparatus, and air bubbles containing phytoncide are supplied to water in a bathtub when an air bubble pipe is connected to the discharge hole of the housing and the air supply pipe of the bathtub and then is operated, and a power cable is stored in the housing when it is not necessary to supply power to the apparatus, thus providing a good external appearance.

- a support packing may be provided on the bottom of the housing 10 to support the housing 10 at a desired position.
- the blower 20 is installed in the housing 10, and includes suction holes 21 for drawing the phytoncide emitted from the chamaecyparis obtusa essential oil 50, a delivery hole (not shown) which delivers the phytoncide drawn through the suction holes 21 to the discharge hole 11 of the housing 10, and a fan (not shown) which rotates in the direction of the delivery hole (not shown) or discharge hole 11 to provide a flow path for the air containing the phytoncide towards the delivery hole (not shown). Further, a power cable 23 is provided to transmit power which is required to operate the fan (not shown).
- the power cable is pulled out through the door 30, so that the apparatus is connected to an electrical power supply. That is, when power is not being supplied to the phytoncide discharging apparatus, the power cable 23 is stored in the housing 10, so that the phytoncide discharging apparatus has a neat external appearance.
- the door 30 is provided on a surface of the housing 10, and is preferably provided on the lower end of the back of the housing 10.
- a cable outlet 31 and an air hole 32 are formed in the door 30.
- the power cable 23 of the blower 20 is pulled out through the cable outlet so as to connect the apparatus to a source of electricity.
- air circulates through the air hole 32.
- the door 30 is hinged at one end thereof to the housing 10 in such a way as to open or close in the same manner as a hinged door.
- the chamaecyparis obtusa essential oil 50 is held inside the door 30, namely, in the housing 10, so that the chamaecyparis obtusa essential oil 50 may be replaced through the door 30.

- One end of the air bubble pipe 40 is connected to the discharge hole 11 of the housing 10, while the other end is connected to a bathtub (not shown).
- the bathtub is the tub in which an air supply pipe is installed.
- a general air-bubble forming bathtub may be used.
- the air bubble pipe 40 is provided between the phytoncide discharging apparatus and the bathtub, and the air containing the phytoncide is fed from the phytoncide discharging apparatus through the air bubble pipe 40 to the air supply pipe of the bathtub, so that air bubbles containing the phytoncide are supplied to the water in the bathtub.
