Definitions

  • the invention relates to packets for smoke articles, such as cigars or cigarettes, and refers in particular to a stiff packet and to a corresponding blank from which it is possible to make the aforementioned packet.
  • Stiff cigarette packets with a hinged lid are known, which are particularly appreciated by smokers because of the great stiffness thereof, which avoids damage to the cigarettes even when the packet is subject to blows or is kept in a pocket or in a bag of a consumer.
  • Such packets comprise a stiff outer shell or enclosure inside which a group of cigarettes is inserted that is wrapped, typically in a sheet of metallised paper.
  • the stiff outer enclosure which is made by folding from a suitable blank of sheet material, such as card, cardboard, paper or the like, comprises a containing body and a hinged lid.
  • the hinged lid is connected to the containing body by a folding line made on a rear wall of the packet, i.e. on a longer side of the packet.
  • Known packets are generally provided with an inner frame that is folded and fixed to the containing body so as to protrude from an upper opening of the containing body and to engage the lid in closing and partially to guide the lid in opening.
  • the inner frame is wrapped around the group of cigarettes so as to make an inner enclosure on which the stiff outer enclosure is formed.
  • So-called stiff "short-hinge" packets are known that differ from traditional ones by the fact that the rear wall of the containing body, on which the folding line acting as a hinge for the lid is made, has a lesser extent than those of the side walls .
  • Packets of this type are disclosed, for example, in EP 0693441, EP 1712470, WO 2007128435.
  • This flexure of the side faces is due to the reaction of the card to the single folding to which it is subjected.
  • the corners or folding lines are rather spaced apart from one another, due to the aforesaid spacing the reaction of the material, although modest, causes pronounced flexure.
  • the increase in the thickness of the material increases production costs.
  • An object of the invention is to improve packets for smoke articles, particularly for cigarettes, and the blanks that are usable for making such packets .
  • Another object is to make a stiff packet for smoke articles provided with a hinged lid that is tougher and more stable in use than known packets, in particular in the case of "short- hinge" packets.
  • a packet for smoke articles comprising an outer enclosure including a containing body and a closing body, and an inner containing element inserted in and fixed to, said containing body and provided with two main walls protruding from said containing body, characterised in that each main wall comprises an intended breakage line bounding a connecting portion of circular shape which is fixed on one side to a respective side face of said closing body, on the other side, to a respective locking element, said intended breakage line being breakable, in an operating condition, for separating said connecting portion from the respective main wall and making said closing body rotatably movable with respect to said inner containing element .

  • the locking elements maintain the connecting portions inside the respective seats during the rotation of the closing body and ensure the stability of the connection.
