Abstract
Au moyen d'un opacimètre, on collecte les gaz d'échappement, on émet un faisceau de lumière à travers les gaz collectés, et on acquiert un signal relatif à l'intensité lumineuse des faisceaux lumineux ayant traversés les gaz. Puis, on extrait du signal une première mesure d'intensité lumineuse au cours d'une phase d'accélération du moteur, on extrait du signal une seconde mesure d'intensité lumineuse au cours d'une phase de ralenti du moteur. Les deux mesures sont suffisamment proches dans le temps pour assurer des conditions de mesure équivalentes. Enfin, à partir de ces mesures et par un calcul d'opacité relative, on déduit le niveau d'opacité des gaz en calculant le coefficient d'absorption des gaz lors de la phase d'accélération.
