Abstract

Se presenta un dispositivo mecánico y electrónico para Ia presentación de superficies con diferentes texturas al tacto. El dispositivo construido incluye una plataforma giratoria dotada de 12 huecos de acoplamiento para insertar estímulos con diferentes texturas y presentarlos a Ia yema del dedo del sujeto. La velocidad de giro de Ia plataforma puede controlarse en un rango amplio (desde 0.029 rad/seg hasta 0.41 rad/seg) mediante un servomotor de corriente continua. Un conjunto de clavijas y sensores fotoeléctricos permite identificar los estímulos y enviar señales de sincronización que señalan el inicio de Ia exploración táctil a dispositivos extemos como pueden ser equipos de registro electroencefalográfico. Las señales eléctricas de sincronización se componen de un código de cuatro bits que se almacena temporalmente en un buffer para ser enviados al dispositivo externo en el preciso momento en que el estímulo toca Ia yema del dedo del perceptor.
