Abstract

　シールリップ２の摺動シール面２１及び大気側円錐面２３のうち少なくとも一方に円周方向所定ピッチで凹凸条２４が形成され、各凹凸条２４が、回転体１０の回転方向へ向けてこの回転体１０の外周面との間隙を狭める方向へ相対的に緩勾配で傾斜した第一斜面２４ａと、前記間隙が狭まった部分から第一斜面２４ａより相対的に急勾配で立ち上がった第二斜面２４ｂとからなる。このため、凹凸条２４による回転体１０との間隙へ導入される密封対象流体の一部が、回転体１０の回転に伴って前記間隙の狭まり方向へクサビのように介入して動圧を発生し、厚い流体潤滑膜を形成するので、回転体１０の外周面との摺動抵抗が減少する。
