Abstract

 本発明によれば、軸線方向に延びる中心電極と、軸線方向に延びる軸孔を有し、中心電極を軸孔内の先端側に保持して、中心電極と組立体を構成する絶縁碍子と、組立体における絶縁碍子の周囲を取り囲んで保持する主体金具と、一端部が主体金具の先端面に接合され、他端部が中心電極との間で火花放電間隙を形成する接地電極とを備えたスパークプラグにおいて、軸線方向において、主体金具の先端面から先端側に突き出る絶縁碍子の長さをHとし、軸線方向において、絶縁碍子の先端から後端側に向かって2mmの範囲内に存在する絶縁碍子の体積をVcとし、2mmの位置における組立体の軸線方向に直交する断面部分の20°Cにおける空気層を除いた単位長あたりの熱抵抗値をRaとしたときに、H≧1mm、Vc≦17mm3、Ra≧1.0×10-3m・K/Wを満たすことを特徴とするスパークプラグが提供される。
