Abstract

本発明の蛍光管(30)は、ガラス管(31)と、前記ガラス管(31)の両端部(31a)に対向配置される電極(32)と、を備え、前記電極(32)は、前記ガラス管(31)の端部(31a)とは反対側に開口する有底中空状をなし、当該有底中空を構成する前記電極(32)の内面(35)は、前記ガラス管(31)の端部(31a)側に向けて狭まる構成とされていることを特徴とする。これにより、電極(32)の底面(33)のみならず、内面(35)においても広く加速電子を収容することができ、局所的なスパッタリングを抑制することができるため、蛍光管(30)の寿命を延ばすことが可能となる。
