Abstract

本発明の蛍光管（３０）は、ガラス管（３１）と、前記ガラス管（３１）の両端部（３１ａ）に対向配置される電極（３２）と、を備え、前記電極（３２）は、前記ガラス管（３１）の端部（３１ａ）とは反対側に開口する有底中空状をなし、当該有底中空を構成する前記電極（３２）の内面（３５）は、前記ガラス管（３１）の端部（３１ａ）側に向けて狭まる構成とされていることを特徴とする。これにより、電極（３２）の底面（３３）のみならず、内面（３５）においても広く加速電子を収容することができ、局所的なスパッタリングを抑制することができるため、蛍光管（３０）の寿命を延ばすことが可能となる。
