Description

DESCRIPTION
DEMOUNTABLE CONTAINER VEHICLE CARRIER PLATFORM
This innovation is relevant to setting up a dismounted vehicle carrier platform (2) composed of a connection spindle which fixes car wheels and prevents skidding, together with a connection lock system (5), main supports (1) fixed by screws (6) and a dismountable, extensible and adjustable connection spindle (3). The system enables safer vehicle transport in freight containers, faster loading-unloading and, by stabilizing the vehicle on a platform and preventing therefore damages due rolling on heavy seas.
Cars and light commercial vehicles are transported with Ro-Ro ships throughout the world and in increasing numbers in each sailing. This transport mode, being expensive in terms of costs is not suitable for a small number of vehicles, for the transport mode needs return sailing cargo. These types of vehicles do require Car Carrier type of trucks when land transport is preferred on the other hand. This transport type either is not preferred for international transports, cost for one-way transport being quite high and return cargo being also a must.
Standard international containers may carry 2 cars or 2 light commercial vehicles. A system named "Transrack" enabling to transport 4 cars or 3 light commercial vehicles in 40' standard international containers is already present in England. However loading cars into the container and stabilizing them demand too long working time and mounting of apparatus in the container through welded chains requires equally a long time period. This situation prevents an efficient usage and is not preferred due obligation to return carrier platform equipments to the relevant country or owner and damages brought to container's originality. Another system is "Car-tainer" frequented in U.S.A. Forklifts lift and carry vehicles in to the container. This fixed system is too laborious, demand a long time period and is not adequate for long vehicles. Vehicles confront problems due rolling on heavy seas, their originality is damaged by scratches and shocks.
There is a 2nd way of transport in the world with 45' containers, called "Impect" and "Car- Rac". Container owners and operators do not allow this system which requires special processes within containers for, welding on containers damage the container's structure and specialty. This system either can consequently not be used with standard containers.
Platform's mounted view is illustrated in Fig. 1 where as Fig. 2 illustrates the platform's dismounted situation.
Our innovation is designed for safer, easier and more economic vehicle transportation in international transports. Its specification enables dismounting and mounting again in a shorter time
Fixed supports (1) are put in the container first of all. Main supports (1) are fixed by screwing (6) with connection lock system (5), enabling the stabilization of vehicle carrier platform (Figure 1) without damaging the container's original structure and which is clamped in fact to original load tightening hooks within the container.
One-piece, round, mountable/dismountable connection spindle (3) adjustable to vehicle's length and with, is placed on connection and adjusting apparatus (4) enabling rising and descending and taking place on main supports (1). Negative effects such as skidding and displacement are prevented due fixing socket (8), extensible according to vehicle's length and enabling the stabilization of connection spindle (3) on the back of the dismountable vehicle carrier platform which fixes the vehicle's wheels and eliminates skidding. Connection and adjustment apparatus (4) placed on main supports (1) is carried on to fixed adjustment holes (7) and stabilized by screwing (6) on the adequate position. Every desired adjustment may easily be applied.
We are objecting to use our innovation in international vehicle transportation.
