Abstract

　本発明の切削工具は、上面と、下面と、前記上面および前記下面に接続される側面と、前記上面と前記側面との交差部および前記下面と前記側面との交差部にそれぞれ形成された上面側切刃および下面側切刃と、を有する切削インサートと、前記切削インサートが取り付けられるインサートポケットを先端部に有するホルダと、を備えている。前記インサートポケットは、前記切削インサートの下面が当接する取付座面を有し、前記ホルダの先端面および一側面にそれぞれ開口している。前記インサートポケットの取付座面と前記ホルダの先端面との交差部に位置する第１交差部、および前記インサートポケットの取付座面と前記ホルダの一側面との交差部に位置する第２交差部のうち、少なくとも一方が、前記切削インサートの下面側切刃よりも外側に位置している。この切削工具を用いた切削方法である。
