Abstract

The invention relates to a tool and also to a process for producing a hollow part. According to the invention, the tool has a first die (2a, 2b) which is assigned a second adjustable die (3) which, in turn, is subdivided into a plurality of displaceably mounted segments (3a, 3b, 3c, 3d), wherein the segments support, in particular in the radial direction, a hollow part (1) to be produced during plastic shaping thereof on several sides, and wherein the segments can be adjusted, in particular in the radial direction, in particular during plastic shaping of the hollow part. In the process according to the invention, a first process step involves the hollow part (1) being inserted into a first die (2) which annularly surrounds and supports the hollow part in a supporting region along the lateral surface thereof, and a second process step involves the hollow part being upset in the direction of its main axis in such a way that the hollow part (1) is shaped in a region (U) which is not supported by the first die (2), wherein the hollow part is supported on the outside in the region of a second, geometrically adjustable or variable die (3). The process can be used, for example, for producing hollow shafts.
