Abstract

 本発明は、光源(BL)、反射型直線偏光層(Pr1)、所定の光学特性を有する複屈折層(A)、光源側吸収型直線偏光層(P1)、液晶セル(LC)、視認側直線偏光層(P2)が、この順に配置され、該複屈折層が所定の位相差特性を有する透過型液晶表示装置に関する。本発明の透過型液晶表示装置においては、斜め方向の光漏れが抑制されるために黒輝度が低下する。また、正面方向への配光による正面コントラストの低下も抑止し得る。
