Abstract

단일 커넥터로 UART 및 USB 통신을 지원하는 휴대용 단말기 및 그 방법이 개시된다. 본 발명의 휴대용 단말기는, USB 커넥터; 상기 커넥터와 선택적으로 연결되어, 외부 USB 장치와 통신하기 위한 USB 모듈; 상기 커넥터와 선택적으로 연결되어, 외부 UART 장치와 통신하기 위한 적어도 하나의 내부 UART 장치; 상기 커넥터의 핀들 중 적어도 어느 하나에 인가된 신호에 기초하여, 상기 커넥터가 상기 외부 USB 장치와 연결된 상태인지 상기 외부 UART 장치와 연결된 상태인지 판단하는 판단부; 상기 판단부의 판단에 기초하여,상기 커넥터의 데이터 라인들을 상기 USB 모듈 또는 상기 적어도 하나의 UART 장치에 선택적으로 연결하는 스위칭부; 및 상기 스위칭부를 제어하기 위한 CPU를 구비하여, 커넥터에 연결된 장치가 USB 장치인지 UART 장치인지에 따라 커넥터의 데이터 라인을 자동으로 적절한 내부 장치로 스위칭한다.
