Abstract

A path satisfying the required reliability is set up in a network system where the link is changed by the autonomous link protection mechanism of a node. If an operating work link fails, and when the link is changed to a backup link serving as a standby link, a link protection type updating section sends to a path control section an instruction to update the type of the link protection according to the link-in-use change information and the type of the link protection which is preset for the link. The path control section updates the internal management information according to the instruction. When a path is set up, the reliability is judged on the basis of the updated information. Thus, the path having a reliability corresponding to the required type of the link protection is set up.
