Abstract

The subject of the invention is a buckle for locking and adjusting a strap, finding a particular application in the field of straps for swimming or diving masks and, more particularly, for any device that uses a securing strap that is simple to operate and to adjust, such as for attaching a device to a part of an individual's body. The buckle (1) according to the present invention comprises a first central element (3) and a second central element (4), which are substantially rigid, comprising means (9) of locking the strap (2), which means can move relative to one another in relative translation (T) along the longitudinal axis (L) of the strap (2) between a first position in which the strap (2) is locked by the said locking means (9), and an unlocked second position. The relative translational movement (T) of the first and second central elements (3, 4) is initiated by at least a pressure (P7, P8) applied, at right angles to the direction of the relative translational movement (T), to one of the first and second central elements (3, 4) directly or via at least one strap-release element (7, 8) for releasing the strap (2) and which is attached to the first or second central element to which the pressure is applied.
