Abstract

A sealing device (1) having an enhanced function of supplying lubricating oil to the sliding section of a seal lip, which improves durability of the seal lip. The sealing device (1) is installed in the inner periphery of a shaft hole (42) of a housing (41) and is slidably in intimate contact with the circumferential surface of a shaft (43) inserted through the shaft hole (42). The sealing device (1) includes a sealing device body (11) and an oil supply member (31). The sealing device body (11) is integral with a tubular fixed section (12) fixed to the inner periphery of the shaft hole (42) of the housing (41) and also with the seal lip (14) slidably in intimate contact with the circumferential surface of a shaft (43). The oil supply member (31) is integral with a tubular fitting section (32) fitted to the inner peripheral side of the fixed section (12) and also with a flange-like oil supply section (33) radially inwardly extending from the fitting section (32). The oil supply section (33) is placed closer to sealed fluid than the tip of the seal lip (14) and has a projecting guide section (37) for colleting oil that adheres to the oil supply section (33) and dropping it onto the shaft. The projecting guide section (37) is located above the shaft (43), at a portion of the inner peripheral edge of the oil supply section (33).
