Abstract

 本発明の課題は、燃料電池の熱サイクルで生じるセパレータの塑性変形を防止し、発電セルの破損を防止することである。本発明においては、発電セル(5)と、反応用ガス通路(11、12)を備えたセパレータ(8)とが交互に複数積層されて、その積層体の外周部に、各セパレータ(8)のガス通路(11、12)に連通して積層方向に連通する燃料ガスマニホールドと酸化剤ガスマニホールドが設けられるとともに、積層体が積層方向より加重されている。セパレータ(8)は、中央部に発電セル(5)が配設されるインターコネクト部(8a)と、インターコネクト部(8a)の縁部より延設され、それぞれの端部(8c)が燃料ガスマニホールドおよび酸化剤ガスマニホールドに連結される一対のアーム部(8b)とを備える。アーム部(8b)には積層方向に変位可能となる可撓性が付与されており、且つ、アーム部(8b)の変形が熱サイクル期間において、弾性範囲内に維持されている。
