Abstract

A process for producing an antiglare antireflection film which is free from bright-spot defects and has excellent marring resistance. It has a low reflectance and is hence less apt to reflect or glitter. It is excellent in visibility including clearness. Also provided are: an antiglare antireflection film; and a polarizer and a display both employing the film. The process, which is for producing an antiglare antireflection film comprising a transparent support and, formed thereon, an antiglare layer and at least one layer having a low refractive index, is characterized by: applying an antiglare-layer-forming coating composition in a solution state to a transparent support to thereby form an antiglare layer which has a smooth surface shape in this state just after application and has the function of changing in surface shape from the smooth one to a rugged shape which brings about antiglare properties when treated with at least one means selected among drying, heating, light irradiation, microwave irradiation, and electron beam irradiation; applying a coating fluid for forming at least one low-refractive-index layer to the antiglare layer whose surface shape is in the smooth state; and then changing that surface shape of the antiglare layer into a rugged shape by that means after the coating fluid application for low-refractive-index layer formation.
