Abstract

L'invention concerne le mélange d'un antioxydant avec du UHMWPE avant de soumettre le UHMWPE à une irradiation de réticulation. Selon un mode de réalisation, l'antioxydant est le tocophérol. Après le mélange de l'antioxydant avec le UHMWPE, le mélange résultant peut être mis sous la forme de tablettes, de blocs et/ou incorporé dans un substrat, tel qu'un métal par exemple. Le produit résultant peut ensuite être soumis à une irradiation de réticulation. Selon un mode de réalisation, le mélange UHMWPE est préchauffé avant d'être soumis à une irradiation de réticulation. Une fois irradié, le mélange UHMWPE peut être usiné, emballé et stérilisé selon des techniques classiques.
