Abstract

[PROBLEMS] A headrest that is versatile, that is thin, and in which operation load in tilting of the headrest from a head support position to a stowed position is reduced for easy headrest tilting operation, and a vehicle seat with such a headrest. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] The head rest includes a pillar (1) mounted on the upper part of the backrest (S2), a headrest frame (2) pivotally engaged with the pillar (1), headrest frame urging means (3) for urging the headrest frame (2) to one side, and lock means (4) provided between the headrest frame (2) and the pillar (1). The lock means (4) has latch plates (41, 42) arranged on the pillar (1) and in which engagement grooves (41a, 42a) are formed, and also has a ratchet (46) pivotally supported by the headrest frame (2) and placed so as to cross and be engageable with the engagement grooves (41a, 42a). The ratchet (46) is engaged with and disengaged from the latch plates (41, 42) by moving it in the direction of the height of the engagement grooves (41a, 42a).
