Abstract

 複数の排気弁を適切に制御することによって、排気浄化触媒における硫黄被毒回復などを効果的に行う。  内燃機関の制御装置は、リーンバーンを行う内燃機関に対して制御を行う。内燃機関の排気系は、複数の気筒のそれぞれに設けられた第1排気弁及び第2排気弁、第1排気弁に通じる第1排気通路、第2排気弁に通じる第2排気通路、第1排気通路及び第2排気通路の少なくともいずれかに設けられた第1排気浄化触媒、及び合流後の排気通路上に設けられた第2排気浄化触媒を有する。制御手段は、リッチ燃焼させた場合に、第1排気浄化触媒よりも第2排気浄化触媒のほうがリッチ化の効果が現れるように排気弁を制御する。これにより、第1排気浄化触媒で排気ガスが消費されてしまうことを抑制でき、第2排気浄化触媒を効果的に昇温できる。よって、硫黄被毒回復等を効果的に行うことができる。
