Abstract

L'invention porte sur un film optique qui est formé à partir d'un matériau ayant une faible viscosité à l'état fondu et qui présente une coloration réduite et fluctue peu en retard ; sur un procédé de fabrication du film optique ; sur un polariseur employant le film optique et ayant une durabilité satisfaisante sur une longue durée ; et sur un dispositif d'affichage à cristaux liquides ayant un contraste élevé. Le film optique est caractérisé par le fait qu'il comprend un ester de cellulose dans lequel les types de substituants et les degrés de substitution par ceux-ci par unité de glucose de l'ester de cellulose satisfont toutes les relations suivantes (1) à (3). Relation (1) 6,30 ≤ 2×X + 3×Y ≤ 7,50, Relation (2) 1,10 £ Y £ 1,50, Relation (3) 0,35 £ Y6 £ 0,50 [Dans les relations, X représente le total des degrés moyens de substitution par acétyle dans les positions 2, 3 et 6 ; Y représente le total des degrés moyens de substitution par propionyle dans les positions 2, 3 et 6 ; et Y6 représente le degré moyen de substitution par propionyle dans la position 6].
