Abstract

La présente invention concerne un procédé d'activation d'un assemblage électrode-membrane, tel qu'un assemblage électrode-membrane de pile à combustible au méthanol, à l'aide d'un combustible hydrocarboné, par exemple un combustible alcanol tel que du méthanol, et d'un oxydant. Le procédé selon l'invention consiste à appliquer de manière répétée un potentiel croissant ou décroissant au cours de chaque cycle d'une pluralité de cycles sur une plage de tension d'au moins 0,1 V, par exemple d'au moins 0,2 V ou d'au moins 0,3 V, jusqu'à ce que l'assemblage électrode-membrane soit sensiblement activé. Les cycles sont éventuellement organisés en jeux de cycles entrecoupés de périodes de repos. La température à laquelle les cycles sont exécutés est éventuellement augmentée ou baissée dans un jeu de cycles respectif.
