Abstract

コア部およびクラッド部の端面となる光入射面および光出射面が、光導波路の延在方向(Z方向)に直交する平面(X-Y平面)への正射影が長方形状になるとともに、該端面から離れる方向(Z方向)に所定の角度で傾斜する傾斜面として形成された光導波路であって、コア部の光入射面および光出射面の少なくともいずれか一方は、上記傾斜面が上記正射影における長方形状の長手方向(X方向)に平行な複数の傾斜面に分割されているとともに、該複数の傾斜面が、発光部に近いものほど上記端面から離れる方向(Z方向)に位置するように、互いの傾斜角を変えることなく平行にずれて配置されていることによって、全体として段階的に上記端面から離れる方向(Z方向)に延びた形状となっている。これにより、簡易な構成により、光伝送の際の光の損失を低減するとともに、安定した光伝送が可能な光導波路を提供する。
