Abstract

船舶への荷積み時に、それまでバラストタンク３に積載されていたバラスト水を、荷下ろし時にはバラスト水となる海水を、ろ過ポンプ５により目開きが９～１２μｍのセラミックろ過膜４に送水して加圧ろ過し、この目開きよりもサイズの大きい海生物を取り除く。また目開きよりもサイズの小さい海生物を含む透過水は薬剤殺菌設備６で塩素またはオゾンにより薬剤殺菌したうえで海中に放出、もしくはバラストタンクに注水する。これによって大型の設備を必要とせず、高濃度の薬剤を必要とせず、しかも多量のバラスト水を短時間で前記ガイドラインの水質基準をクリアすることができるレベルにまで浄化処理することができる。
