Abstract

The invention provides a metal/ceramic composite material which exhibits small linear thermal expansion over a wide temperature range and a process for production of the same. A metal/ceramic composite material which is composed of both a light metal or light metal alloy such as aluminum or magnesium alloy and interstitial manganese nitride and which has, in a temperature range of -30°C to 90°C, a temperature region where the change δ in linear thermal expansion ΔL/L over a temperature width of 20° or above is 1 x 10-4 or below.
