Abstract

 コイル部材の不均一な変形や偏芯等を抑制し、耐久性の向上を図るとともに、ヒータ昇温特性のばらつきを抑制することのできるグロープラグ及びその製造方法を提供する。グロープラグのシースヒータ3は、先端部が閉じた金属製のシースチューブ7を備えており、その内側には、チューブ先端に接合された発熱コイル9等と、発熱コイル9等の内側に挿通された棒状の絶縁体11とが、これらの隙間を埋める絶縁粉末とともに封入されている。絶縁体11の先端側には、自身の一般部の外径よりも細径となる先端側テーパ部11aが設けられている。そして、絶縁体11は、スウェージング加工に先立って発熱コイル9等へ挿通され、先端側テーパ部11aが発熱コイル9のテーパ状縮径部9a内側に配置された状態となることで、スウェージング加工によるテーパ状縮径部9aへの影響を低減させている。
