Abstract

A device and method for controlling an elevator, which, even when fire is detected, enables optimum rescue corresponding to conditions of the fire by using the elevator. When fire is detected, an unmanned elevator with a camera is first made to stop at a floor where the fire broke out and then conditions of the fire is determined based on image information from the camera. Then, based on the result of the determination on the fire conditions of the fire floor, an evacuation operation plan using an elevator is created and an elevator is controlled so that evacuees on the fire floor are evacuated to an evacuation floor based on the created evacuation operation plan.
