Abstract

A rotatable spade assembly for a backhoe having a backhoe arm having a proximal arm segment pivotalIy mounted to the backhoe and a distal arm segment pivotally mounted to the proximal arm segment includes a backhoe spade; and a powered spade rotation mechanism for connecting the free end of a distal arm segment to the backhoe spade so that the spade can be rotated relative to the distal arm segment to orient the spade opening in any of various different directions relative to the backhoe arm.
