Abstract

　３種類のレーザ光の回折光を単一の光検知器に効率良く入射させることができ、この光検知器の検出信号に基づいて適切な焦点制御を行うことができる、構成が簡素化された光ピックアップ装置及びこれに用いることができる回折光学素子であって、光ピックアップ装置は、３種類のレーザ光を出射できるレーザ光源１０と、光ディスク３１からの反射レーザ光を回折させる回折光学素子４２と、回折光学素子４２から出射される回折光を検出する１台の光検知器４３とを有する。回折光学素子４２は、３種類のレーザ光のうちの波長の近い（波長の差が小さい）２種類のレーザ光のそれぞれから生成される回折光は０次光が最大成分となり、残りの１種類のレーザから生成される回折光は＋１次光若しくは－１次光が最大成分となるように作製された光学部材によって構成されている。
