Abstract

 3種類のレーザ光の回折光を単一の光検知器に効率良く入射させることができ、この光検知器の検出信号に基づいて適切な焦点制御を行うことができる、構成が簡素化された光ピックアップ装置及びこれに用いることができる回折光学素子であって、光ピックアップ装置は、3種類のレーザ光を出射できるレーザ光源10と、光ディスク31からの反射レーザ光を回折させる回折光学素子42と、回折光学素子42から出射される回折光を検出する1台の光検知器43とを有する。回折光学素子42は、3種類のレーザ光のうちの波長の近い(波長の差が小さい)2種類のレーザ光のそれぞれから生成される回折光は0次光が最大成分となり、残りの1種類のレーザから生成される回折光は+1次光若しくは-1次光が最大成分となるように作製された光学部材によって構成されている。
