Abstract

第一の画像（Ａ１）を秘密画像の対象として記憶する画像メモリ（１１）と、この記憶された第一の画像（Ａ１）と当該画像の輝度を反転変換した第二の画像（Ａ２）とを時間多重化する合成部（１２）と、この時間多重化された画像を表示する画像表示部（１３Ａ）とを備え、前記第一の画像（Ａ１）が表示される時に光を透過する光シャッタ（１６）を前記合成部（１２）に併設する。そして、画像表示部（１３Ａ）の表示特性にかかる情報を取り込む表示特性検出部（１４）と、取り込まれた画像表示部（１３Ａ）の表示特性に基づいて前記第一の画像（Ａ１）を第二の画像（Ａ２）に変換する画像変換部（１５）とを設けることにより、画像表示部（１３Ａ）における表示特性が変更されても、第三者に対する画像表示を有効に遮蔽し得る画像表示装置を提供する。
